Must be at wheel. That is not a crank dyno.

Don't know anything about dynos. What gear would that have been done in?
Sounds awesome.

That is impossible!
The M5 is a rear wheel drive car so it will have a minimum of 15% drive train loss.
Take that into calculation whp/.85
That means the M5 is producing ...
629 HP ???? And 594 lb torque????

Lets take a comparison with the 2013 GTR which has 545hp (15 less HP than the M5). It dyno at 480 whp which equals to 564 HP. Are you saying that the M5 have 65 HP over the new GTR which does 0-60 in 2.7sec? O_O

@smashhell: the GT-R is a 4WD! you can't compare the launch 0-60 of the M5 and the GT-R.
Better look at 60-120 where the BMW is faster than the GT-R

M5 weighs about 4100lbs
GTR weighs in 3800 lbs

advantage of 300lbs + AWD. That's why the GTR can be faster 0-60

I just traded out of the 2013 GTR.....The GTR will have closer to 18-20% drive train loss due to the AWD system.......power to weight ratio is still in its favor however as it weighs about 3800 lbs......now of course the M5 has considerably more torque but its difficult to compare these two cars.....theres a real lack of refinement with the GT-R, its a very singular tool, the M5 is probably one of the best all around cars in the world.

You can't take dyno's as absolute measuring tools. They are much more of a "reletive" and "ballpark" type tool.

First, mustang Dyno's will read different than Dynojet dyno's, with the mustang's typically reading higher.

Also, the same car on different days will read differently, as they might between 2 of the same type dyno's on the same day.

Dyno's are great for things like tuning if you measure the same car on the same dyno to see differences or comparing 2 different cars on the same dyno back to back. Different cars on different days on different dyno's will all be, you guessed it, different.

Nevertheless, those posted numbers are healthy indeed.

I agree on the Dyno comments above except, a mustang Dyno will read 12-13% less than a dynojet.
On a Dynojet it should read mighty close to 600whp.

Keep in mind the car got dyno'd immediately after driving 7 hours straight with little cool down time.

Not looking for Dyno queen numbers but there's a few more ponies in there. A good baseline nonetheless.

Totally agree. I had a GTR also. Noisy as hell inside the car. Drivetrain noise, tire noise, wind noise, you name it. Paint quality of my black car was the worst I have ever had, and thin as tissue paper. Rode like crap.

Stereo was terrible. Interior as cheap as the exterior.

Monster-quick. Grips like crazy. So if performance is all you care for, then it is among the best in terms of bang for the buck, but everything else is rubbish.
