Wonder if Sensatec is different between models. Have it in our 2022 (i)X3. It smells like leather, and not chemical at all. I´m super thrilled with it and prefare that over the Vanesca, that was the other option.

Congrats on your new car. Can´t quite decide what I think about the i5. I will wait for the Touring to arrive next year before deciding anyway

It is baffling as the G30 had these sections wrapped, at least on the M sport versions.
If any owner could please confirm.
So most of interior materials on the i5 are soft touch.

The upper door panels on the front and rear doors, the upper dash, the lower dash, and glove box are of a softer touch materials than they feel on the lower doors. The lower door panels are of a softish material that seems to be wrapped around hard plastic. It still has a tiny bit of give when you touch/feel it, but it isn’t as dense /thick as the lower door panels of a G30.

On the center console, between the driver and the front passenger there’s a a second sub section between the carpet and the center console that is hard plastic.

I test drove a G60 i5 M60 and also sat in a G60 530i for a long period of time and made sure I touched EVERYTHING.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

G30 wasn’t wrapped in leather or sensatec unless you selected it as an option. On pre-LCI, if you chose Indiv merino leather then it was automatic.

It’s growing on me, but not sure how I feel about the ambient lighting. Bmw is always lacking in this department.

Its there. But you dont get the same visible light strips except for the one central line. They light up the interior instead of decorating with visible leds. I think of it as a tree or a building that is lit from the ground up versus a tree/housedecorated in cristmas lights. More classy imo.

This is by far the most accurate description between the 2. Exactly. The lighting is tucked away and glows in strategically placed areas. But it all comes down to personal preference. I like both. But BMW’s method fits my style much better.

That’s a great example of the two ha. My wife’s Porsche cayenne is very similar to bmw, it has the ambient lighting but it’s tucked away. I like Mercedes ambient setup but at times it does seem like a lot.

Congrats! That is a exceptionally beautiful car. Carbon Black is my favorite BMW color. Everything about your i5 looks amazing. It is the most beautiful BEV by a wide margin.

I hate the feel of 'Sensatec'!

Edit: Hmm, this G60 is growing on me! I wanna see the specs on a B58/Hybrid AWD version! I think it will go well with a 45e!

I believe there will be a 550e that is exactly that.

I grew up in the 1960’s. Sensatec feels and smells like the vinyl seats in vehicles back then. It is awful.

False statement.

SensaTec is nowhere near vintage vinyl found in vehicles made a half a century ago.

No way no how.

SensaTec is a sturdy, durable and great material. My 2017 G30 has it and the seats still look and feel new. Most people don’t know is not real leather (Which creases, pucks up in places no matter how diligent are you with the leather conditioner and maintenance).
