Delivery day! Overall very impressed upon first sight. And then same on first drive. Decent acceleration and braking. First time 5 series and electric vehicle buyer so I’m getting used to it. Only time I felt the weight was at moderate speed and road curve. I’m going to rely on public charging and see how it goes.

It’s my first 5 series and I’d say the sport seats are a bit wider than a 3 series.

The M Sport makes the headrest and upper section sort of interesting because there’s some Alcantara.

The Vengaza feels very soft. Close to higher grade leather. For reference, I drove my ‘22 M3 with Merino leather right before and after for reference.

Vengaza is in my opinion 10x better than Dakota Leather/Vernasca Leather. And 100x better than Sensatec. It doesn’t have a leather scent though but on the plus side, I don’t think it has any scent.

The scent is what I was afraid of, so I went with leather. The Sensatec has a chemical smell of some kind. I can’t even walk down the grocery store aisles with cleaning products, without my throat closing up. I will definitely give the Veganza a smell test.

Yeah sensatec smell is just like the old MB Tex smell that has that strong odor after a while. Hopefully veganza won’t have that odor. I got an 23 X7 last year and was afraid the new sensafin material would develop that scent so went with merino leather.

Does anyone know what material the upper dash and upper door panel in the i5 is made of? Is it veganza wrapped too?

From the pictures I have seen so far of the G60, the upper door panels & upper dash appear to be soft touch plastic. No wrapping of any sort that I have seen (no visible stitching).
It is baffling as the G30 had these sections wrapped, at least on the M sport versions.
If any owner could please confirm.

I’m not entirely sure. I do belive the door cards do have the material choice on a portion of the arm rest. The dash is tough to tell. Here’s another pic

That is quite interesting. On the X7, I was able to get the upper dash and door panels in merino but even in base form, it’s at least wrapped in sensafin. Wonder if it’s something they’ll offer down the road and just currently don’t have it on launch.

I really didn't like the plastic on the doors. It looks and feel so cheap.
For the first time in the 5 Series history, the door bins are bare plastic. No cloth covering. It feels like the 3 Series and even cheaper, despite the fact that car price is getting way higher than the old 5 Series.
The rear cup holder are now like in a Corolla.
No rear seats airplane pockets.
Light color leather is limited to the seats and small portions on the doors only. All other areas like the dashboard, glove box, pillars, and ceiling are still in black.

Sadly, the car doesn't feel luxurious and expensive like before.

It's a nice color when it's new and clean.

Absolutely dreadful color to maintain.

Can't imagine paying for it new haha.

Depends on how close and available public charging is; I did depend on public charging for a year with my i3 but we had four level 2 chargers in a public parking just next to our apartment. Only headache was to move the car when it was full, so not too bad.

Yes going to give it a try. I commute by public transit, so I will be using it for errands and long distance road trips.
