I asked this a while back. It is apparently not possible to get seats with massage function on the 530i/540i or the i5. However, I recently got very conflicting answers. The SA said no, but his boss, the sales manger seemed to imply that he was wrong. The manager insisted that "it was coming" but I could find nothing about that anywhere. The two of them never got back to me due to the holidays.

Just so to put my mind at ease, does anyone know for sure that it is NOT possible to order the 530i with massage seats?(now or within the next 4 to 6 months)

Thanks!

I know for sure that at least in the US, massage seats are not an option. I doubt anyone other than someone with inside knowledge at BMW can tell you if they will be available 4-6 months from now.

Thanks! Just wanted to make sure.... although not much I can do now, since my 530i apparently has entered production and no changes can be made.

I'm sitting in my X1(U11) right now with the massage seat activated. Some people say it's just a gimmick, but it does feel pretty good to my aging backside. It will feel strange when my new daily driver more expensive 530i arrives in a few months without massaging seats, while my bottom-of-the-barrel X1 has it on both front seats.

Guess I need to stop questioning BMW's logic....

I have the multi contour Nappa comfort seats in my G30, but without massage and without ventilation. They are very comfortable to me and I drive 1000 mile trips 2x per year with no issues. The massage bladder in the seat bottom will make the seat stiffer, less comfortable. So it’s possible customer feedback and relatively low take rate caused them to not offer massage seats in the G60.

Also the ride quality of the G30 will suffer with run flats and running high recommended tire pressures, which seem to be more for fuel efficiency than comfort. So the G60 should be better just because it’s using non run flats but the suspension also uses stroke-dependent dampers for a better ride.

I've tried both the standard seats in the show room and ended up getting a vehicle with the comfort/luxury seats.

Firstly, the standard i5 seats are different from the seats in the iX and the i4. I found the ix/i4 seats to have a thin bottom cushion and not that comfortable.

The standard i5 seats feel completely different with more of a bottom cushion.

Then comfort/luxury seats on the i5 feel pretty close to the same as she standard seats. There may be a subtle difference in comfort but it's not huge. The biggest difference is that the comfoo/luxury seats have electronic adjustable (through iDrive) side bolsters and thigh adjustments.

In Canada, ventilation is part of the premium essential package (includes a bunch of other tech stuff). Then comfort seats are standalone option.

BMW always does this with initial launch models. I remember the first MY G30 lacked a lot of features (i.e. analog gauge clusters in the U.S. only Europe got the digital display. It wasn't until 2nd or 3rd year the 550 in the states finally got the digital cluster with the 2 rings. This was before the LCI where all models finally got the full digital cluster with iDrive 7).

I read here that certain G60 models don't have the full LED interactive bar on the center and front doors. Now the lack of articulating upper back adjustment for the multi-function seats goes to show how BMW tends to withhold features/options for initial launch models. It'll be interesting to see how the options start rolling out for MY2025 esp with the higher engine trims coming out.

I posted above about the non comfort of the Multi Contour (Comfort seat) on the G30 in Napa leather (Firm). I actually hate the comfort seat, but it might be since I have Massage on them. I just drove for several hours in a G60 Basic model, which I believe had a standard sport seat. I found them very comfortable and much better than the G30

It’s almost pointless to get seat reviews that are relavent to any one driver. I wouldn’t argue with someone’s individual experience. But my experience with the G30 multi comfort seats is good all around. I’ve had them in Dakota without vents or massage. Very comfortable. I have them now with Nappa and vents and massage. Also very comfortable. Several multi hour drives in each, both awesome. I could drive a G30 540 or M550 with comfort seats all day, and I have. Fits like a glove. Hope I never have to get rid of it.

back when I was a kid just learning to drive, cars didn't have memory seats(or even airbags/headrest, for that matter) I remember my father always taking over 5 minutes to return the seat to how he liked it, after I drove his car.

Is there any difference in the rear seats with the luxury seating package? I was about to place an order until we sat in the back of a car without the luxury package, and the protruding area between the isofix points was very uncomfortable. Just curious if this is any softer or different with the luxury seating, or if the only difference is the availability of seat heating.

Nope, they are identical apart from seat heating like you noted.

Leather vs Veganza

Anyone know if BMW has started to offer the Merino leather in all black in the G60? The two tone with Atlas Gray is a huge turn off for me. Still on the fence of what to do when the lease on the M550i expires in Fall.

Interestingly, my wife feels the same as you and finds it very uncomfortable, but when I sit in the back I don't even feel it. I guess I just have a fatter behind.

Same. It’s actually my wife who was uncomfortable. I did find a $20 pillow that I am going to take the next time we visit the dealer. If that doesn’t work, maybe an X5 is the next best thing.
