I'm digging that sharp cookie cutter shape with straight diamond cut segments that will shimmer under light, and the 7 spoke overall design that is reminiscent of the current M5 and M5 CS (5 or 10 spoke being a much more common design because it's easier to integrate the 5 bolt pattern).

I assume these M Performance wheels are 21", like the 21" Individual wheels of the launch models. 22" would certainly look too big in the 5er's wheel arches and make the tires look and probably feel too skinny, just like the 22" on the 7er:

It's quite amazing that we've reached a point in car design where you can pretty much reach perfection with this key element that wheel size is given the current engineering limitations and still ride in comfort. In theory there is still room for improvement (an ideal design sketch typically has 2.5 to 3 wheel widths in-between the wheels), and I have no doubt EV dedicated platforms will make it possible within this decade.

Very bad design and nothing BMW about it.

Why not just evolve E39, F10, G30 formula. It’s over complicated design that looks downmarket and has lost all BMW identity!

These pictures actually give me hope that the car, with the right options / build, will look great.

My gripe on the stance stands; looks like an animal about to pounce with the tail higher up relative to the front.

I stopped getting engaged by some of the same members posting about how the Grills are this and that or how EVs will never be drivers car and so on and so forth.

I am intrigued by the i5 when it arrives as a touring. Sense i have a growing family and will need one soon but don't want to switch to Petrol or Diesel but want an EV Touring car and it has to be BMW! I my self wrote earlier that i think the i5 is a bit generic doesn't stand out so much but this is the more "toned down" look that some prefer over the i4 and such.

Its like one of those trends that eventually dies. "I'm going to write the grills are ugly" then get a bunch of likes from the same members all over for that short dopamine kick, the likes in these forums being the "appreciate" button

Because some people actually like the new designs witch isn't appreciated by some of the old guard, while the new folks gets deterred from engaging due to being smacked down and told "You are wrong and you are not right to think this" "You have to love the old V8s V12s or I6 and have to love the design of old and you have to hate on EVs and think they are not real cars, otherwise you ain't part of the community" Although not spoken like that but it is implied and you can see it in various post.

Then again its not only the forums faults EVs could have been a natural part of the car community just like some like performance tuning some like design changing their cars with body kits and such and some simply like slapping a gianormus speaker system in to their cars. Each and everyone have something they bring to the community but as of late its quite splintered and fractured witch then stops new engagement. EVs are simply another type of car that people like even if it is without a growling engine that wakes the whole neighbourhood.

I my self am guilty of this horrible crime of splintering but on the EV side. Thats why my self i am trying to do better even if it gets frustrating when the same old myths about EVs keep spreading without fact checking it.

Its like with the Fortune cookies you can't find then in Chinese cuisines even though they are super common in Chinese restaurants but its a Japanese trend and was introduced to the US .

Or the old Myth it takes seven years to digest chewing gum, it simply not true it just passes through and out the other end Its not like gum stays in your gut for seven long years.

Or a penny dropped from extreme heights could kill you and its simply not true it will sting but it won't kill ya, depending on the size ofcourse.

Honestly I’ve noticed every “spy” photos have nothing but “negative” comments. Or when something new comes out it’s all boo’s and no likes and ugly. But when first owners post the new cars it’s always positive comments and how gorgeous the car is…. I don’t get it. Are the moderators doing this??? Literally not one positive review on this post. But once deliveries hit you’ll see the more positive ones

If you can afford it, it's ugly. If you can't afford it, it's a pretty nice looking car.

That's the one thing I don't like either. Going back to the E30 days, the rockers were painted black from the factory - but that was BMW going more for function than fashion.

I think having the rocker covers and lower bumper trims a different color than the rest of the car could look really, really good in some colors - kind of like how the E34 M5 was. That press car that's deep red would look awesome with grey or silver rockers, and these M perf wheels. Put a suspension on it, get the M pack and I think you'd have a really fantastic looking car. My hunch is this car is going to look much better in person than it does in photos.

When G80 M3/4 were released- many were banned that stated even slightest criticism. That forum is pretty much an echo chamber.
I’m still banned there as many others…

Personally if someone posts pics of their car, i will not go and say something negative but if its manufacturer pics or 3rd party then we should have freedom to voice our opinion on it.

I know right, talk about hypocrisy. Apparently it is not ok to express that you don't like the designs of these new BMW models, but it is ok for dude to write a full one pager naming people who do not agree with his views... trolls.

Aren't forums a place to freely express what people feel about things?

I agree. I am still banned from the XM forum as I did not like the proportions of the car and I said that I'll stick with the ICEs as long as I can. I am with the devil since I do not find the EVs as the best thing since sliced bread.

When the g30 preproduction prototypes were given to journalists still obviously with camouflage wrapping, I thought it looked great even then and then when launched, it immediately just looked right.
I wanted one.
The g60 has never done that and act up ally the more I see of it , the more I dislike it. But I think to be fair it’s not just this model, I think Bmw have changed which saddens me I hate to think that there won’t be a future car that I will want now.

If you like this g60 , fine. As the poll suggests, it’s a fairly even match between those who like it and those who don’t.
So Bmw must be doing something right.

Nothing wrong with it, it just looks like BMW got scared of social media trolls, so they decided to keep with the soft outdated design same as MB was doing for decades.
