I have been talking to my salesman today whether to get a car now (WW33 production, WW38 handover) or push until November production with no guarantee it will be available. Something I considered a "must" sounds not like something too important, when production date is confirmed and handover date is closer and closer. At the end, "cheap" option looks not too bad and as a driver I'll better keep eyes on the road

Even 550e delivery slips beyond original 6 months build time due to 4UR. He said, another client ordered in March, hoping to get it by end of summer... and his production date is not yet confirmed, marked with "yellow" sign in the system and gets pushed by BMW.

Like 520i - when I just started to explore, waiting time was 8-9 months, it is 12+ months now.

I wouldn't worry to much. You might want to call BMW NA if its a concern. I do see 4UR listed on the standard equipment list of the USA 540 on my buyers order.

Just an update. I now have a production number for my 2025 BMW 540. On the list of features, under standard equipment please note the photo below. Interaction bar with Ambient Lighting is listed.

Congratulations Todd. Did they say what is your production week? Mine is week 36 (1st Week of Sept). What color did you end up ordering?

Thank You! Actually, all he said was it's scheduled for August production and should be finished being built by the beginning of September.

So, I'm not sure? I can't imagine it taking to long to build it based on the feedback of others here. And the wild videos I've watched on YouTube showing the 5'er getting assembled. Maybe someone can comment on how fast it moves through stages?

I selected Carbon Black Metallic. I'm going to get it ceramic coated to minimize the possibility of minor scratches or swirls. My second choice was phytonic blue, but after pouring over many images from actual owners, I ruled it out. It's a beautiful color, however, in some lighting it looked less appealing to me. If that makes sense.

Your dealer should be able to tell you the specific production week. Once you have a VIN number, you can do the Google Chrome trick to view the actual production date. Actual assembly of the car happens very fast probably within 1-2 days from painting to assembly line roll off.

Weird since I ordered mine back in May, I got a Sept build slot. Oh, Well. I'll live with it. Nice color. It looks beautiful. He should be able to give you a specific week for your slot. Maybe if you go on MyBMW and add to garage, then click on my BMW is still in production, you can enter the order number and it will tell you.

However, I'm on the West Coast near Los Angeles, so yours should not spend as much time on a ship over from Germany since it will probably land in New York or Baltimore, or somewhere on the east coast. I also waited a few extra days once it arrived at the dealership since my sales associate was on vacation.

Wow. That was pretty fast. I ordered mine in May and got a Sept build slot. Yours was just a few days from order to Production begins. I bet if you had not placed the order they Dealer would have placed an order on Spec to not lose that slot. Lucky!!!!!

Oops! 2 things to clarify!

1. The date is a typo - it should read 2024 for the first date.

2. I should add that the first date in the chart for ORDER RECEIVED is a guess. When I placed my actual order on Jan 13, 2024, the car status was already SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION because the dealer basically re-configured another existing allocation to suit my order. Although I tried to find the initial order date for that allocation, no one could tell me the original order date - not the dealer, or BMW. So, I had to guess it.

I ordered a car before this one at another dealership though (cancelling it later) and it took about 3-4 weeks to go from ORDER RECEIVED to SCHEDULED FOR PRODUCTION, so that's what I based my estimate on. Really, though the dealership could have placed the original order any time.

Sorry for the confusion! The rest of the dates are accurate though - I followed it closely online once I had the production number.

I just noticed this post today! Thank you SkyKing If I recall from another post, Eastern US vehicles go into Balitmore? I'll have to look around to see if someone has posted the transit time for that shipment. Very cool to see how they noted the Panama Canal transit, hehe.
