I am waiting to receive my 2024 530i in the US. I had a chance to test drive a 530i today at my dealership but the ambient light bar (interaction bar) was missing and instead just had 2 strips of lighting instead of the thick light bar as seen in the i5. I don't know if my 530i will have this slim light bar or the thick interaction bar. The interaction bar wasn't listed as an option as well when ordering my car. My dealer couldn't help as well. Does anyone have any ideas?


Edit 11/25/23: Confirmed that the 530i will not be getting the interaction bar (wide bar with lighting) until March 2023 in the US. Ordered an i5 which has the interaction bar as standard. Saw both cars in person and the interior lighting in the 530i is just 2 thin strips of lighting, which is significantly inferior to the interaction bar. Was a dealbreaker for me so I had to force my dealer to change my order to an i5.

I’ve confirmed the interaction bar is on constraint and no 530is will get it anytime soon.

Wow, that sucks. Especially since the Canadian versions have it listed as an option for just $200 but the US does not even have it listed as an option.

I just looked at the latest ordering guide (updated 11/2/23). 4UR moved to 3/24. Earlier, it was listed as SOP 11/23.

4UR Interaction Bar with Ambient Lighting NC NC
(SOP 03/24) (SOP 03/24)
4UR will delete STD or 100% equipment ZWL x x


last I heard they are working on getting it certified as it was some fire hazard.

Which color did you order?

I'm putting order this week for 530i Vegas RED.

I guess I'm putting off my order for now. I originally planned to get the i5, but after careful consideration, electric is just not a feasible option for me at this point. Not to mention the fact that I would not qualify for the tax credit according to my CPA friend.

My eyes are now set on the 530i rear wheel drive with no options/package, except remote engine start and the $650 color charge. I already went through this parts shortage game with BMW when I waited for my X1 for almost 6 months.(picked it up in April) Guess I can wait until March production, unless things change.

FWIW you would get the tax credit if you leased as there are no income restrictions for leases.

I put in a tentative 530i order with my BMW salesman... the stipulation is that the order will not be entered until they can confirm the ambient lighting has been restored to the production.(at which time, he can go ahead and deposit the $1000 check that I left with him) Of course... I'm going to keep monitoring this thread, in case anything changes.

I think ambient lighting will still be there only the touch bar will be unavailable. Probably need to check delivered 530i if any delivery has been done to the dealers yet.

Verified - ZWL will be there only the Interaction bar will be missing from 530i. Need to check what it is really?

Correct, the picture you have is right for 530i.

but the 4UR Interaction bar is NC with 530i and 530ix and it's SOP now pushed to 3/24. See below latest ordering guide published 11/2/23. In the last ordering guide SOP was 11/23 with the vegas red color that's why I waited till Nov to order 530i in RED color.

However it is standard equipment on i5 the pic I posted from the pdf.

I guess we will get the 530i like this - just the ambient light without crystalline surface backlit. Unless we wait another 5 months.

I have already read from users in the German forum that they turn off the interaction bar because it is very blinding at night. Even if you set it very low at night.

Then I prefer the smaller version.

blinding for the driver or the passenger? it's free, so I'll just wait for them to being offering it again for 530i produced after 3/24. The date seems awfully specific? Not to mention that 3/24 is a Sunday. Do BMW factory start production week on a Sunday?

Just talked to my guy at BMW. he can see 4UR in the build tool. He is going to send me build sheet from one of 530i they just got. Just to confirm and look for this option code. will update.

It doesn't look nearly as modern with just the ambient lighting. I would not be happy ordering a 530i and losing the interaction bar.
