I can’t even see rear comfort access adding 10 bucks to the manufacturer cost, but perhaps it’s costlier than I think. Either way I guess bmw decided that the math checks out to remove it. Last edited by Gautam; 12-31-2023 at 01:06 PM.. |

I was under the impression that with the new comfort access, the doors unlock as you approach the car and lock when you walk away. Also that there are settings in idrive that determine whether just the driver door or all 4 doors behave like this.
If this is the case, do we really need the old style touch comfort access on all the doors? Or am I missing something here? |

This thread makes me want to go test drive one of these lol. If I can muster up some time. Closest dealership looks to have 6 in stock. Prices look to be around the same as old M550i prices.. 84-94k. I was surprised the price of the one from that review was nearly 140K euros. Yikes.

After this review I feel a little bit happier with my decision, that I went for a fully loaded eDrive40 instead of the M60. I was getting a little uncertain while awaiting mine (which is still over a month away). In the meantime I‘ve been watching all these mainly positive reviews about the M60, although I definitely don‘t need the power or AWD.

Motoring journalists by their very nature are against EVs and most if not all of their argument and dislikes centres around range, weight and noise/involvement. Having lived with EVs for over 2 years, first the i4M50 and now this very car the i5M60 I disregard with EVERY single complaint he has about the car.
Firstly the range argument. 95% of owners do less than 12000 miles per year FACT so that equals to less than 35 miles per day or in other words well within the total range of the car. Of course you can counter this with "but I do some journeys that are more than 200 miles in a round trip" and these will require a top up somewhere but again very occasional and you only get enough juice to get you home not fill it up so time wasted is minimal. An EV at least at the moment isn't really for someone doing +30K miles per year so don't go this route and then complain because you bought the wrong motor. Next is the weight argument, having had an M5 Comp the actual driving on the road isn't that different even when you push it. Where you do feel the weight is braking but beyond that it grips and changes direction very similarly because though heavier it's positioned lower. And finally the noise/involvement, the whole point of an EV is the lack of noise for most owners and I am willing to bet most turn it off very quickly and just enjoy the silent which allows you to enjoy that amazing sound system all the better or talk to your passengers without raising your voice. For me personally the lack of noise is the best bit because every journey I finish more relaxed than ever when I had a regular ICE car. I can't see myself ever returning to a normal fossil fueled car. |

I am happy with my ICE.
It weighs 4,000 lbs. I drive 650 miles on one tank, 45 mpg and it's quiet too because I sail a lot. [/OT] |

They are all great, my point was just because it's different doesn't mean it's bad or even worse it just means it's different. I loved my M5 when I had it but I don't miss it now I am driving the i5M60.

As matter 30 min charging time is not long. Especially by time I go restroom dog goes restroom and then snacks. I traveled Arizona and californa north to south. Last trip to Yosemite Never had issues with charger if plan right. Apps let you know availability and function so choose wisely. I still have ICE car but it’s driven 2k year |
