Yikes! Other than the driving dynamics this guy absolutely hates the car. One wonders what he would think about the new E-Class as pretty much every one of his criticisms would seem to apply to that as well.
I can't ever recall a more negative review about any car. Wow! |

Doesn't matter.
The car simply runs too slow for a BMW. Less than 250 kmh. That simply does not work. |

Unfortunately only in German.
But the 520d is quicker than an M60 and manages up to 60 mpg when driven efficiently. Range up to 950 mi. |

Interesting review - I don’t think he’s wrong about the difference with going to an EV - it’s not just a matter of cutting and pasting a gas/petrol engined version on to a battery platform and creating the same thing. EV’s are fundamentally different.
After the best part of a month with mine (first time EV owner), I’ve had no issues with range in terms of regular use and have easy access to charging when I need it. I’ve also noticed that the “range” numbers unsurprisingly move around a lot as the car’s trying to work out how you’re going to be driving it and over what kind of terrain for the rest of the charge - I’m looking more at my charge % which is much more like the fuel gauge on a regular car. If I had different needs - e.g. my work involved me driving around a large territory, then I’d go with an e rather than an i. I don’t think of the M60 as an M car, in as much as you can unlock all those horses when you want, but it wafts around as a comfy sedan most of the rest of the time, but it’s not an always-on kind of machine in my mind. |

He drives like he is severely afflicted with ADHD, hates the fake noises (as do I), but doesn’t turn them off, and obviously is predisposed against EVs. He certainly presents a perspective but I found his review mostly subjective and not helpful.

Not a very unbiased review. From the start his aversion with BEVs was blatantly evident.

Whatever the merits of that AutoNL review, I made the mistake of watching both his review of the i5 M60 and the earlier review of the 2024 520d. Now, every time I get in my car, I wonder if I’m surrounded by cheap materials that were chosen to cut costs and designed to attract Chinese buyers. He does have a point in comparing the interior of the G60 5-series to the previous G30 5-series. I had a 2018 540i before the i5 and do certainly see a difference in the sturdiness and quality of the interior components. The i5 is clearly more technologically advanced, but it’s also more plasticky and generic.

The quality, especially in the interior, will hopefully improve with the facelift (LCI).
It was the same with the E60! |

The veganza seats in the G60 are significantly more comfortable than the Dakota leather seats in the G30 and I, for one, find the overall interior of the G60 to be a huge aesthetic step up from the G30. I really have a hard time understanding all this "cost cutting/built for the Chinese market" criticisms of the G60 interior. |

This fellow sees no compromises in the interior materials or fit and finish of the M60.

I see in the Chinese series version:
- Illuminated "5" in the Hofmeister bend - There are door sills - and even illuminated ones - Higher quality switches for the window regulators!!! - Separate pillow in front of the headrests - Other center console (mobile phone tray) |

None of these things are about quality of materials though.

Precisely. In fact, I'd pay a hefty sum to not have the "5" illuminated. It's garish and cheesy. Frankly, I wish BMW hadn't put the "5" on the C pillar at all.
The discussion was and is about the quality of the materials and fit and finish. |
