BEV's are close to 90% efficient. This just adds to the fall of Happy Harry's reputation as a honest car reviewer.

Yes - saw that. Really like the look and the new HUD sounds amazing.

If range is 380 miles then that will be a really good EV. Wish they were to implement NACS for the Macan EV. Makes no sense not do it with this model.

So many layers to that onion I don't know where to start. I drive EV's because it's fun. From the very first time in my Tesla 10 years ago, I still remember the feeling. Not everything has to MEAN everything. But it's also good that it does mean something. Ya know.

Fuel will start at 98% because you lose 2% delivering fuel. You actually get only 30% work from a combustion cycle. Tons of physics on line for calculating heat loss, friction loss, etc. These have improved with better lubricants, the numbers used to be worse.

Carbon taxes have nothing to do with nature being clean. Co2 is good for the environment; they pump it into greenhouses to increase yields.

Carbon taxes will be used to reduce your ability to consume, travel, and do anything. Or as the WEF technocrats behind this nonsense say: "You will own nothing"

My only point was/is why can't we just enjoy stuff without having to explain it. Enjoyment is good.

Again, I feel the need to ask: do you believe there are zero corruptive powers in the world, and that control is not something that is sought?

Labeling something that may exist outside of your worldview, especially something that has actually been spoken and recorded on video, as a conspiracy theory is intellectual laziness of the highest degree.
I'm making a broader point, not simply focusing on this specific theory.

Would be helpful if we could bring the conversation back to cars and not world domination.

Interesting article - thanks for sharing!

To bring this discussion back to the OP...

I finally watched the Edmunds video and they have some...unusual criteria as to what made the best EV. Apparently they were very impressed by the luxury aspect of the i5, possibly in the context of the i7. I'm not sure that's the main criteria for most EV buyers. Maybe they should have renamed the award "Best Luxury EV"

Hard to just call it just a luxury EV when it accerates faster than 95% of the cars on the road and handles better than a Tesla S. If there was a sport/luxury EV that would be its niche.

The eDrive 40 price is in line with most other EVs, though. It’s like Car & Drivers 10 best with their price creep. Last year’s issue was cars priced under $110k or something ridiculous, all lumped together.

To put this in perspective, I just built out a Porsche Macan trying to chose the same options as my car - leather, HUD, lane keep assist, heated/cooled seats (no massage ) and it came to $122k.

And to me, the new 5 Series is the first all new BMW model in years, that looks great from all angles, especially the rear!

Our XM...awesome from the front, good from the side and awful from the rear.

Our iX....great from the front, awful from the side and ok from the rear.

2024 5 Series.....to me just awesome from every angle!!
