11 cents per kilowatt hour to fill my tank to 250 plus 600 horsepower miles. That's 9 dollars to fill up. Not the reason for the purchase but a nice bonus. Bought the car for the ride, reputation and tech.

Well, it was certainly my pick after 2 years of looking and test driving various EVs.

It’s interesting to note in the article about every BMW exceeding the EPA range which is based on battery size. The wound rotor synchronous motor works differently, as it turns off the magnets during coasting. Take your foot off the accelerator and the magnet disengages which adds to the efficiency. Instead of a calculated 35kWh/100 miles, it gets 28.7kWh/100 miles. This proved true in all the BMWs they tested.

I never leave the Seattle area unless I drive up to Vancouver BC. Plenty of chargers in Western Washington and up the coast. Driving across the state to Spokane is a different story. Only level 2 chargers at motels on the east side of the Cascades. Good thing I never leave west side.

EVs are a bridge to no auto ownership for the plebes. All part of the plan.

I just placed my order today at Habberstad. The long wait begins. BTW, I have a place out in Jamesport and out there I use a national Grid. I think it cost like a 1$ per hour to charge overnight. How many miles of range do you get per hour charging? My Tesla used to get 29 out here and 26 in BKLYN. 240 volts on the Island and 208 in BKLYN.
Of coarse I more than make up for it with the A/C. LOL

Actually, this thread is about the i5 being the best EV that you can buy in 2024. If you have not driven an i5 plus other EVs, then you should have no opinion and shouldn’t even be interested in this topic. It’s not about ICE cars, but is the best EV for sale now?

Calling articles that you don't agree 'paid' is disgusting. Tells a lot about a person. (Not good things)

Do tell what you optioned . As for charging most will be done at home but thank you for the information. As for miles an hour added I do not know yet. Have not hooked up to my charger yet.

I love my i5 but I'm with the group here that wonders how the i5 won this award. It's not a dedicated EV platform and as such, has a 'transmission' tunnel affecting middle seat leg room. It also lacks a frunk which adds to storage in a vehicle. It also doesn't distinguish itself on range or pricing...

Honestly, I would've expected one of the Hyundai/Kia offerings to win this award given the price point, utility and range. Or something like a Rivian with its creative packaging.

Went simple. i5 40
White
espresso brown
M SporM Sport Pro
Luxury Seating
Executive Pkg
19" Wheels for the range.

Free Charging basically useless for me. None in Bklyn or Staten Island. A few on my way out to Jamesport, but even in my Tesla 99% was done at home.

In the end I was a little nervous about the Lucid, even with the incredible 18 month deal. I really liked the BMW, and my wife liked the white with the espresso.
I stayed away from the Bowers since I like good sound and the review I saw on it said it wasn't worth the price. I mostly listen to the sports talk, Yankee games and Spotify. So no biggie for me.
My biggest concern is learning the iDrive.

Pleb logic believes

Money so big, that logic can’t afford it.

BMW playing catch up cuz they’re too busy preparing a checkmate for EV’s final chapter and come dick swinging with the hydro.

You see? 2024 logic can’t even afford imagination.
