Q2, the strategy has significant economies of scale achievement targets to bring those prices and costs in line and to improve battery range. Notice the % are baselined to 2019. But margins have taken a hit in the near term (down 15% 1H). BMW blamed investments in NK and software but it’s clear the mix and BEV prices have been impactful. https://www.bmwgroup.com/content/dam...ation_2024.pdf |

I have never disliked driving any car as a rental Tesla Model 3 dual motor for 4 days. It is a P.O.S., really at 15 years ago Hyundai P.O.S. level ! So do not try to fool people saying that it is an SPORTS car when it is a fast box. Is there no decency in this world anymore? |

About time. Although this is probably greater evidence of Tesla falling than of BMW finally catching up and getting its EV game together.

Is there any correlation between their sales? I would have thought they appeal to different market segments?

It seems like BMW's, M.B.'s and other EV sales numbers are not that great either. Maybe consumers acceptance for EVs is peaking or growing slower every time, at least with the current battery technology and charging networks.
Opening new markets appears like the growth path for EVs, but charging networks are a big barrier and the mid level Tesla models face steep competition from BYD in China, Europe, Mexico and other markets, so the U.S. market is their only remaining stronghold for a while. |

I would love to buy a BMW EV, but Tesla’s autopilot is superior to BMW’s active cruise whatever they call it. It also is free, works anywhere, does stop and go traffic, and does not require mapping or cell connectivity.
Tesla’s full self driving (supervised) doesn’t even have a BMW competitor. I refuse to pay a monthly subscription for cruise control once the “trial” period ends and I don’t want it nerfed because a road isn’t mapped or because there’s no cell service. Until BMW (or any European maker for that matter) can match Tesla on this, our DD EV vehicle will continue to be a Tesla. The Porsche is 6MT and has zero driver assists for weekends. As is truly right and just.

I didn't like the Tesla Autopilot when I tried it, it's reactions, line centering, acceleration, don't feel natural to me or normal to my passengers, aka my family.
We all like the BMW DAPP MUCH better. And the Tesla Autopilot has killed soo many people, it's a tragedy. So, good for you Musk eteers, you may keep your Teslas and your overpriced stock. |

But even FSD is truly awful in my experience. Why don’t people want to drive their cars themselves on surface streets? It’s something I’ll never quite understand. I use BMW DAPP on our road trips about half the time on the interstate when there’s plenty of room and not a lot of traffic. It’s great. Biggest shortcoming of autopilot is phantom braking. It happened too frequently and scared me to death. Never trusted it after those experiences and it’s a fatal flaw of Tesla’s SW. |

It’s a mild refresh of the same car Tesla has been selling for SEVEN YEARS. Is it better? Sure. Is it a “game changer”? No. Is it “all new”? Not even close. Not even Tesla is claiming that… you’re on your own with that statement! |
