From a quick scan it looks like this is data from a single month. I'd need to see a quarter or even year to date to make more sense of this...

This is the inflection point in Tesla's rise and fall, people will realize that Tesla is not great, nor are it's car's. Now, real luxury brands offer better high end EVs and BYD offers much cheaper, similar ones.

Highest valued automaker? Come on!

The bedazzled ones who bought Tesla's shares better sell those ASAP.

I don't like Teslas myself but one has to admit they are superior from an energy efficiency standpoint. Regardless of "range", what really counts is "miles/kWh" (like mpg in ICE terms). This is where Tesla is still better than BMW and other traditional automakers. It's like comparing BMW (better mpg) vs. KIA (worse mpg) in ICE car efficiency. For the energy conscious EV buyer that's a main (but obviously not the only) factor.

I wonder if Elon even realizes those were largely retaliation for Trump's inflationary tarrif war against China. 🤔

They are super efficient. We got 314 wh/mi or 3.2 mi/kWh on the model 3 perf and 280 wh/mi on our dual motor Y or 3.6 mi/kWh. The iXm60 gets 2.6 mi/kWh.

But it’s a much more enjoyable use of power. Plus we use EA for free for 2 years which offsets any lack of efficiency. Charge there about half the power we use.

Note that on the highway the BMW is as efficient as Tesla (75 mph).

Hopefully they do not lower the overall quality any further to match Tesla profits!

You can see that my i5 M60 gets 3.4 mi/kWh while driving aggressively most of the time and still getting 270 miles of range. There are several people here that get better efficiency than me. I find it fast, efficient, plus the comfort and build quality of a BMW.

How do you do it? I don’t drive aggressively but get nowhere close to that number. The best I can do is 3.0 if I don’t get on the interstate. We use adaptive regen. Your 270 mi range is on 80% SOC?

Edit: noticed you have an i5 and we have an iX. We also have the biggest wheels on ours. That explains it.

Similar to folks that bought the Model S Plaid the folks that bought Cybertrucks have taken a huge hit as the market had utterly plummeted for them. Anyone who bought one above MSRP has to be fuming now especially since they’ve dropped 30-40k since launch.

This is my July….i5 M60, mostly freeway commutes 60-70mph for big stretches. Try to have fun when available, but this kind of efficiency is possible.

I don’t drive an EV. I don’t want one. I don’t want a Tesla.

That said, Tesla is a technology company that happens to make cars. Not a car company that happens to develop some technology.

I wouldn’t sell Tesla stock just based on the auto industry catching up to their cars. Maybe if there’s some other reason, sure. But not for that reason.
