The issue isn't the transit, it's the availability of parts in a lot of cases. Hopefully there is no long wait and I can keep the i7 for now. It will be a different story if they put me in a compact car.

Be aware of the Enterprise Rental experience.
I did this once and it was a joke. I made an appointment for service 3 weeks in advance to wait for a loaner. Naturally, the day of my appointment they didn’t have one and “ubered” me to the nearest Enterprise. The only car they had was a compact Mitsubishi Mirage roller skate on wheels, unless I wanted to pay a substantial difference to upgrade. I wasn’t going to be driving much and declined. The service advisor texted me later in the day to make sure everything was ok, and I told him I was very unhappy with the rental. His comment was ”I know, everyone complains”, which is why he followed up with me to make sure they didn’t get ripped on upcoming service survey. He had someone shuttle a car off the lot to me and took the rental back. I was pleased with the way they handled it, since my car was in the shop for almost a week. Enterprise uses slick marketing tactics (usually cute young girls and guys) to persuade you to upgrade. They roll out the biggest joke in the fleet, see your disappointment and then push hard to get you to pay more to drive one of the really nice vehicles parked in front of the office. Good luck with the 530i! Hopefully this doesn’t lead to another stop sale on the ones in transit or on the lot.

To be fair one's service experience depends a lot on individual dealers. It sounds like you have a very good dealer. I have had good and bad service with all brands over the years and our Toyota/Lexus experience has been the most problem free and required far less dealer interaction than any other brand. The time I have invested in getting a drivable 5 Series delivered to me was ridiculous and now my 3 week old car has to go back to the shop because the new BMW front and rear camera system doesn't work but it does beep continuously unless you simply unplug it. |

I got the car back today. They told me there was no loctite on any of the belt components and they all needed to be replaced, as well as a new belt.
That said - I doubt mine is the only one with this issue so look under the hood and make sure all your belt components are secure! |
