Materazzi did not deserve a red card. The red card changed the outcome of the match. Italy deserved to win. They more chances than the Aussies.

In 2002 Brazil's Rivaldo had the ball kicked at him. It hit him in the legs and he went to the ground, holding his face. It earned the Turkish player a red card. FIFA fined him after the game for poor sportsmanship.

LoL.. Ukraine had a fairytale story, especially since they lost 4-0 in the beginning. So maybe it's their destiny.

However......

I hope Ukraine LOSES!

I said it before and I'll say it again: the Italian team has better actors than football players. That's not to say they're the only team that does it; most of the teams do, especially the better ones.

That all aside, I'm really getting tired of the card happy referees. It's ruining the flow of the game and it's encouraging diving and acting. Enough is enough.

It's time to bring football into the 21st century and begin using television review to cut down on blatant officiating mistakes and the abuse that results from it. Maybe some of the "excitement" and "drama" will disappear, but I disagree - legitimate cards and send offs will be that much more exciting. It works to great effect in American football; it can work here too.

Italy will do what they have done in the past, choke in the quarter finals.

France and Spain should be an exiting game today.

To ensure all biases are disclosed I am rooooting for Deutchland and have been for the last 5 WCs (yes, it has been a while.....)
