It's been crashed and there are no survivors. This is a terrorist attack but nobody is saying anything because they don't want to start something.
If you recall the Chinese had their version of "9/11" a week before this flight disappeared where a bunch of Muslims killed 40 and injured over 100 in an attack in broad daylight. Then two Muslim pilots fly away in a plane carrying 240 people and nobody knows where they are. How does a plane just disappear when the governments can see your shoe from outer space? They know that this is a terrorist attack but they're (the Chinese IMO) don't want to start a civil war inside their country. |

So debris might have been seen on satellite outside Australia. So sad if true, and strange. Pulling off a stealth move like this and fly all that way just to crash into the ocean, why? If true we might never know.

This would make one plausible scenario - the plane carrying the muslim Malaysians and mainly China Chinese had all arranged for this so they could emigrate enmass to the vast expanse of australia where minimum wage is 20 bucks.

Spy sats typically operate at a height of 200 miles, at such a low altitude they are never over any single point for more than a few seconds as they are travelling at 17,000+ mph and orbit the planet once every 90 minutes. The US has enough of these that one can be vectored into position over a certain point but this takes time, typically a few orbits at least. Geo-stationary sats, used for satellite TV for example HAVE to be in the same spot all the time (or your DirecTV wouldn't work). Those are at an altitude of 26000 miles. No camera has been built that will take pics of your shoe from that distance. Bottom line is that if you think that the US has the resources to have a multi bullion dollar spy sat follow a routine Malaysian flight out of KL then you need to stop watching 24 re runs. It can't follow it, it would have to spot it once every 90 minutes and with 9000 aircraft in the sky at any time and much more important things to look at, it isn't going to happen.

Plot twist: John Travolta was secretly in first class, went up front and took over the captains chair, and is now using the 777 to shoot a POV mile high club film.

Impossible. There were women on the flight as well...

The whole story has very much of a "cult-ish" feel to it, except the passengers were all likely non-willing participants.
Pilot pre-programs a route into the middle of the ocean knowing the plane will eventually run out of fuel and crash, but before that he incapacitates (or even kills) everyone on board as the autopilot takes the plane to its inevitable doom. Maybe that's what he meant when he said "good night." Perhaps it was a euphemism for losing consciousness, and perhaps that's why the plane was flown to 45,000 feet. Cabin depressurizes, everyone (perhaps including the pilots) is knocked out and auto-pilot takes over. Maybe there are underlying religious and/or cult-like motivations for this behavior. That would explain, in part, the irrationality of it all. Last edited by NemesisX; 03-20-2014 at 01:30 PM.. |

That elevation estimate of 45,000 ft is very unreliable without the flight transponder and "goodnight" is a perfectly normal sign off when leaving an ATC zone. My buddy is a pilot and I've heard him say it many times.

Everyone keeps reading into what the pilots last communicated words were. Once thing you have to realize at this point is the fact that everything they did was done on purpose and to not arouse and suspicion until it was too late.
