777-200 Missing
Anyone following the news on this 777 that has disappeared? I sure hope somehow it shows up having made a landing somewhere. I have a feeling that will not be the case though. Very sad.

been trying to follow this story (coincidentally been watching a lot of documentaries on airplane crashes recently) and there isn't much news so far very scary.. especially at this day and age to have a plane just lose touch with no sort of distress call or message is just crazy

I was surprised to see how many commercial crashes have occured in recent years. Seem to involve many small airline carriers in Asia. |

On the news here this morning they have implied the plane has crashed into the sea.
I also heard someway say the only way this could have happened is if there was a catastrophic explosion on the plane. They have also stated two passengers boarded the plane on stolen passports? RIP all those poor souls on the plane! On a personal note this is bad news for me and I know it's not even in the same stratosphere as the people who were on the plane or their families. My wife is the worst worrier in the world and we are currently organised our two month long trip to Canada and the States in July/August so I'm going to bombarded by, "we shouldn't go" for the next few months! |

Not sure what Air NZ has to do with mate, but yes, they are safe.
Malaysian airlines are (were?) very safe as well, they have best all their tests for years and so on, but, I heard this was a code share with another Asian airline which is a totally different story. |

its either major pilot error, massive plane structural failure or explosion... the last 777 issue was asiana 777 which crash landed in SF last yr... if they cant find d wreck quickly, chances of finding d black box r v slim... |

Human will always have an inherent fear of being high up in the sky or deep in the ocean because we cannot fly, nor can we survive underwater. My biggest nightmare is being in a submarine. I cannot even think about it.

After Asiana 214 I read a very interested article concerning pilot training and the lack of experience with "stick-and-rudder" style flying skills. It is long but provides an interesting (and concerning) take on how folks in the asian countries are training their pilots:

The latest news is there may have been up to four passengers on the flight on fake ID's and apparently the plane "disintegrated" at 35,000 feet!

The most striking thing about this is the fact they are finding no evidences of the plane hitting the water.
If it blew up, debris would be all over the place and floating in the water, similar to the 747 which had its main gas tank blow up over the ocean off the shores of NY Long Island. They even found surface evidence of the airliner flying from South America to Europe that went down in bad weather in the Atlantic Ocean. A plane does not blow up or crash into water without leaving a debris field. The only way to do that is to land on water intact which can be done and then sink the plane in whole by letting water in, |
