I think to each their own. Spend some time on the iX forum and you will find many saying the iX seats are terrible. They have been somewhat redesigned for the LCI.

Maybe he has the new iX? I've heard same as you that the original seats are not great, but that the seats in the refresh are much better.

I don't think any 2026 models have been delivered yet, and this is the LCI with the redesigned seats.

New seats appear to just have additional bolstering which will solve a few people’s gripes but far from all. They do look better that’s for sure.

The IX seats lack the adjustability. Even the g60 is better in this regard with its headrest. The backrest of the IX, even new version, is one single piece. The headrest is non adjustable and the upper back does not articulate like the MC seats in say the g05 or old g30s.

So people will not slide around as much but they still won’t be able to dial into an optimal support position.

It's a current model and I know that some people complain about its seats but they are noticeably more comfortable for me. Even my wife made the same observation too.

I also took it through its paces and was surprised how well it held up, on par with my i5. And I wasn't sliding in my seat despite the flat seat cushion. I noticed that the seat belt pulls you in pretty tight though, like it used to on G30.

P.S.

I'm also really impressed by its HK system, way better than the i5's. Could be due to the SUV form factor.
AND it has a full equalizer

Additional bolstering and a longer cushion for more thigh support which was a big complaint previously. However, you need to make sure you get the multi-functional seats as the standard seats appear to be the same as the current seats.

Ah yes. I missed the common complaint of lacking thigh support. That looks to be fixed.

Luxury Seating

New poster here. I don't currently own the i5 but am strongly considering one, and the seat comfort is the most important aspect for me as I have long legs and really need more thigh support and overall seat comfort. I haven't had the ability to test drive an i5 with the 'luxury seating package' but are you saying here that the i5 sport seats don't have enough thigh support, or are you referring to the iX. Also, there was some talk in the newer post-March update having additional lumbar support. Does this apply to the sport seats or luxury seats? Probably the option that I am the most on the fence about ordering, as I have all the other aspects nailed down. Can't wait to put my order in.

Please, Please, Please make sure you test drive one before making your decision. I have heard way too many stories here about people going in blind, and then regretting it. Unfortunately the seats fall under 3 categories with people. (They love them, or They hate them, or they are "Meh, they're Ok, but i wish.....") And that's not to mention the former G30 owners who wish they had the same seats.

I love the Comfort seats. My wife doesn't, but it's her fault for not taking the time to adjust them like I have repeatedly told her to. It took me a good 3 or 4 drives to get them right.

Thigh support comments were in regards to the IX. The extensions on the comfort seats in the I5 offer plenty of support and length.
Seats are sooo subjective. You must test drive and do a long test drive to try to pull out any discomfort you may ultimately experience on a road trip.

Do you mind sharing your method of adjusting the seats?

I have a new iX as a loaner. I find the seat cushions to be overly firm. Not enough side bolstering even in sport. The massage is nice but all the settings feel the same. It has the HK stereo. Definitely has bass under the seat, but it lacks the crispness and channel separation of the B&W. The HUD is weird as well.

Which seats did you get in your i5 that you are comparing with?

First off, I set the seats all the way down, with the seat back slightly reclined. I like to be at arms length to the top of the steering wheel, not up against the wheel. The thigh extensions out all the way and then adjust the bolsters to just touch my sides. That way when I go to Sport Mode they hug me so I don't move around in the seat. Then just as I'm driving I may tap the adjustments a little tweak at a time until I find the most comfortable position. It takes time to get it right. Each time I set the memory so I don't get out and the seat reverts to the previous position the next time I unlock the car.

Like I said it takes a few drives to get it right. I also have the lumbar completely deflated. Some times you have to move it up a little and deflate some more. When you are deflating it make sure you press yourself back in the seat to put pressure on it and force the air out.

I’m currently in a similar setup except seat all the way up instead of down. Everything else pretty much identical. Back has not been totally on fire recently.
I read it’s best for the lower back to have a higher seat base height bc it creates a more chair like position allowing your knees to be lower than your pelvis (this is never quite possible in a sedan, but I try).

Yes, ideally your knees and hips should be at least on the same level.

I also try to raise the seat but only can get away with raising it by like an inch at most, otherwise my view of traffic lights gets obstructed.

I also feel that the windshield's height in G60 is lower than in G30.

Yes despite being initially comfortable, sedans are not setup best for optimal back support being too low to the ground
