It worked for me. Very noticeable difference in the headlight patterns.

Since the update got installed I get a random non-responsive center stack. Only the home button will work but the rest doesn’t. Resetting Idrive doesn’t work, restarting doesn’t work. But leaving the car parked for a couple of hours and it works again. Then out of the blue it may or may not work. Frustrating.

Sounds like you've been logged out of your connected drive account. When properly logged in, the built in and purchased apps should appear within a couple of hours.

Well, I have an appointment tomorrow at the dealership to get 11.2024 installed. This is the response I received from BMW NA Genius:

Please know that our team is aware of ongoing issues with the BMW Personal eSIM, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We want to assure you that our dedicated teams have identified the root cause and a resolution is now available at your local BMW Service Center. If you would prefer, the fix will also be available in the next Remote Software Update for your BMW. At this time, I do not have information regarding when the update will be available for your BMW. Once it is available, you will receive a notification within your BMW advising you to perform the software update.

My i5 M60 is at the dealership right now outside charging, having had 11/2024.50 (not a typo) installed. Once I have it back, I'll check out to see if this is the "fix" mentioned for the eSIM. Also going to be curious if my activated anti-dazzle lights stayed activated, since I did this update at the dealer, rather than waiting for the OTA (which is what activated my anti-dazzle to begin with).

Following this. I did deselect the reprogramming. But have not had an update since to see if that actually activates them. I'm waiting on this to see before I try playing with anything else to see if it allows me to use Android Auto outside the US.

I had removed 05AP with BU prior to the 7/2024.40 firmware update. It did activate the anti-dazzle (at the price we now know of pretty much disabling the eSIM along with futzing up some other things). I'm going to be very curious to see if I still have anti-dazzle AND a functional eSIM again, having done the update at the dealer's. Will post it here once I know.

I got the car back with 11/2024.50 installed and the eSIM *does* now work as it did prior to the 7/2024.40 update. Not dark yet so haven't had a chance to check whether anti-dazzle survived the update. Scheduled charging also seems to be working properly now as well.

Yeah. they said that because my car is US Specs, and specifically made for the US, the car's GPS KNOWS it is not in the US. They installed North America cartography. Therefore since the car does not have any local maps, it technically does not know where it is in the world. All it knows is that it's not where it is supposed to be. So because of that, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, and BMW Nav don't work. Therefore DAPP also does not work hands-Free. Only Hands on. I keep looking at the different codes on BimmerUtility to see if there is something that I can click on or off that will allow it to function, but so far I am too afraid of screwing something up that bricks the IDrive. I wish there was some BMW person on the forum that could give me a definite answer on what I need to check/uncheck to make this work. My phone keeps saying ready to connect to Android Auto, and whenever I try to turn it on in Idrive, it says Bluetooth@ version no longer compatible. I know, it's BS.

The local dealer said they got a communication from BMW AG that if they were to install the local cartography for Europe, it would make it all work, but then when I get to the US, I have to pay BMW again to load US cartography so it will work in the US.

Right now I am waiting to see if I am returning to the US next year or I am approved to be extended overseas again until 2028. If I extend I will get the local version installed for free and suck it up and pay when I go back. If I go home I will just wait and see when I get back. Yes, it's a pain. But I am used to using my phone for Nav anyway.

A follow-up after having 11/2024.50 installed---as related, the eSIM finally functioned normally yesterday after the update and is still functioning today. I did some night time driving and it seems the anti-dazzle coding did stay intact and that the anti-dazzle still functions also.

I agree, MikeElmendorf....was actually a pleasantly surprised that it "survived" the dealer's doing the update! But in traffic in the dark on unlighted roads this morning, it kept the blue Auto lighted irrespective of oncoming or overtaking traffic, and there was light modulation.

dubb13, in one of the other groups (maybe i7) it was claimed the OTA version would appear in March. When it does, will be interested to see if it's still 11/2024.50, which is what the dealer installed on mine yesterday, or some later version.

Well, I’m going to have to go back next week for my software update. The computer system the dealer uses to update vehicles did not have 11.2024.40. They only had up to .30. They’ll have to update their system before they can update mine.

They’ll give me a loaner as it will take some time (several hours) for the update to complete.

Note, if you are going to schedule an appointment for this, make sure the service department has access to the most recent version. Otherwise, you could experience some delays.

Mine was done yesterday with 11/2024.50, so I'd push for at least that. Just my 2¢.

Usually OTA comes out three months later, so maybe February for the 11/2024 update.
