If so, please try the suggestions described here and report back. Best with pictures.
Maybe the big map in the instrument cluster and Apple CarPlay in the main screen. Or the BMW navigation system in the widget window and Apple Maps on the large screen.

OK - reporting back with my homework - it’s not a great picture, but suggests that this is possible. I could also probably expand the screen in the instrument cluster (I had it set on the narrower view with the speed and power “bars” closer together)

Great.

I might prefer the variant like this, if possible:
BMW Navi in the widget window and Apple Carplay in the large screen.

I do BMW nav in HUD with the augmented reality screen for the driver information and Waze on the entertainment display. Working good so far. Definitely not renewing the traffic camera app though.

I’m with you - I’ve had no value for the traffic camera app so far

I only use the BMW nav in everyday life to display current traffic jams. RTTI (Real Time Traffic Information).

WAZE pictures see above!

I think it depends on where you live. The BMW traffic camera alert is totally worth it for me, as I live in an area with a lot of them.

My phone app couldn’t tell the difference between a traffic cam and a speeding or red light cam. Probably because Apple Maps and Waze both rely on user input. Most people cannot look at a camera and tell what type it is. So my phone gave me warnings which I ignored. The BMW app can tell the difference and puts it in my HUD, which is great because my stereo is usually on pretty loud.

Do you get a little text box pop up? I get “uneven pavement” warnings and such in my HUD - wondering if it’s the same? I’ve never had an alert yet.

I do get those, I don’t remember if I got them before I purchased the option, or not. I think it was after because I bought my options within a few days.

I get uneven pavement warnings in the HUD and have never purchased the Traffic Camera package.

What works best for me. Waze on entertainment display but with no destination added. Tell my BMW to drive home and after it loads up I hit the media button on center console to get you tube music and Waze back up on entertainment display. BMW nav then shows up on HUD and Waze still alerts me to road hazards and cameras and cops via voice. Phone actually stays in my pocket.

Uneven road conditions is separate from camera package. 2 different icons on settings page.

I’m interested on what’s that about, I must have skipped it in the manual papers

When I prep to hit the road I set my destination with BMW navigation app and then I hit the Naz button top left of center console above the Idrive controller. On the drivers information display you need to have the map setting in the display layout so that when you set your destination with BMW nav it also goes in front of you and up on the HUD. After that is set up I can switch between the you tube music and the Waze on the entertainment display by hitting either the media button or nav button on center console. Hitting either button will toggle between the two different screens on the entertainment side of the display. I like to do it this way so I can easily add a charging stop and the car will be preconditioned because I add that stop with the BMW navigation app.

Thanks, I understand the bit about the BMW nav and setting destination and having that display on your instrument cluster/HUD.

Its just the layout you have of Carplay in the main console display. I've not found a way to show media and waze map like you do ...so curious how you managed to do it !!

I have android auto up and running but I know that car play is a better vehicle integration app right now. I think that if you push the iDrive controller to the left it will open up a side menu and you can then select your music app from that list or expand the list using the bottom most icon. It should then split the screen with media at the 2/3 side and waze at the 1/3 side. You can then toggle the 2 of them by selecting either media or nav button on center console. The active app will be the 2/3 app and this is the app where your iDrive can be used to select items/actions.

Ah, I just realized you are on Android auto. That explains the mystery.
