Lmao the fact you think i’m a BMW snob and you think the only car i drive is a 07 335i. That’s just a weekend toy lmao
I daily drive a 2017 GMC sierra 1500 Denali, have a 2013 F350 Lariat Powerstroke for a tow vehicle and a 04 expedition as a beater/mud toy
I have absolutely zero interest in a telluride if i want a SUV i’d buy an escalade range rover or a X5 not a Kia.

X5s are great as a lease vehicle in warranty. There is a reason you can pick up a 3 year old $85k X5 for $35,000. 🙃
Eh, $30k for a Kia is still pushing it. The engines on those things suck ass. hence the whole 10 years 100k powertrain warranty.

And I'd rather buy the leased X5 with some warranty on it and better-built quality than a Telluride (or any other Korean Product).

It always amuses me when people talk like BMW has some great build quality or something. Ive owned 10 M cars and a couple non M cars. Still waiting to see that magic build quality.

My MIL has a 12 year old Kia Sorento. Runs perfect. Been in the shop less than my dads 17 X5.

Well, my mom's 17 Mercedes is always at the dealership because it's still under warranty. So, any little thing she notices I take it to the dealership.

For example, I noticed one of the door handle trims wasn't clicking in. I took it to the dealership to get it fixed. If the car wasn't under warranty, I wouldn't bother. Sometimes a car going in and out of a dealership doesn't mean it's crappy

Build quality refers to materials, fit and finish. Been in a few kia’s a hyundai’s they all have been plasticy and even the nicer materials have always felt cheap such as the leather. Then there is materials used to construct the cars and the paint quality. Such as german auto makers using galvanized steel to construct the cars which leads to superior rust protection and stronger body panels.

Does your dad follow maintenance intervals or does he fill up with gas and change the oil every 15k?
If Kia’s are so much better. Why did you let him buy a BMW instead of telling him he needs a telluride?

I have a 2021 X5 on order as stated a few pages ago. Its a nicer car than the Kia no doubt. Also costs near $80k so I would hope so. Wont keep it out of warranty tho.

But the Kia is nicer than a 07 335i, 13 F350, and all those other trucks you named.

Nicer as in newer tech or actual build quality? I’m sure it has more tech in it.
However i would not claim it to be nicer than a newish Denali. Not sure how much you know about them but for example a brand new one is a $100k truck and 2017’s are still going for $50-60k

Well then you can understand how i feel about Kia’s. Dont get me wrong they are far nicer than they used to be. However to me they will never be a car i aspire to own and they will always be the option for those with poor credit and just want/need to get into something decent instead of a bunch of beaters.

Anyone getting a 84month loan gets what they deserve lol theyre obviously overspending

Production capabilities, estimated demand, competition, timing, the vehicle market in general. It's all a numbers game and the companies do their homework to squeeze profits to the best of their abilities. If they didn't see an advantage to charging over MSRP they wouldn't have. Apparently full sized SUVs are still a hot item and the shiny new thing on the block warrants a markup in a particular area, so that's what they will do. Don't hate the player hate the game.

After all, someone has to buy/lease the new cars for the used market to thrive. We can already slowly see how things are impacted after almost a year of this unusual market. It looks like it will take a bit more time for the abnormalities in the car markets to be more obvious.

Not according to JD Power

2020 3 years reliability. BMW is still higher than Kia.

If I could have gotten 5-10% off on a Telluride I would have ordered one over the X5. I do think Kia is shooting themselves in the foot by not making and selling as many as possible.

The SX has Nappa leather and real nice finishes. Most X5s have a lower class of leather than that unless you buy the Luxury Searing Pack or pay $2,000 for it a la carte.

Im really looking forward to seeing the new Genesis SUV in the flesh once they are out. I drove a G70 sport for 2 weeks and I liked it as much as an M340i while not quite as peppy.

The new G80 BMW is horrible. They better watch it or they will get passed by Kia N.

Yeah you need to check out those genesis GV80s. They should be at the dealer now, mine has like 9 of them. Really nice car. If I had another $20k in my budget we would probably be driving one haha.

Side note to the whole conversation of everything vs Kia, my whole thing is this telluride is probably the best bang for your buck new large SUV that you can buy. Hence why I went after it. Not arguing it's better then a brand new BMW or Denali or whatever. But if you want to talk shit on it I would recommend going an driving one first, as without doing so the comment is literally meaningless. They've really come a long way.

Brand snobbery is indeed a real thing!!

I know because unbeknownst to me I suffered from it. When the Genesis first dropped in 2008 I loved everything about them....except the Hyundai part. I couldn't or wouldn't consider them because in the 1990's the Excel sucked!!! In 2011 I was involved in an accident that totaled my Lexus, not my fault, everyone was ok. I had all but purchased a replacement Lexus and on the way to the Ft. Wayne, IN Lexus dealer I decided to stop and try a Genesis. I drove it.....loved it....but it was a Hyundai for crying out loud. I made it up to the Lexus dealer and test drove my new GS. It was AWFUL when compared to the Genesis. I left and bought the Genesis that day. It makes zero difference to me whether or not others agree with how I feel about my cars....it takes all kinds. But to speak on the topic whilst not taking the time to check them out.....I find that to be rather silly. But again, it takes all kinds. I see people posting about the motors being trash, the interior being sub par, all nonsense spoken by people who haven't sat behind the wheel.

.....and for the record, the ONLY issue I had with my 2010 Genesis and then my 2016 was the stereo in the 2010. The sound system was PHENOMENAL, but had to be replaced at a cost of $3k.....under warranty. Other then that they were both every bit as reliable as the Lexus's I had prior. I can't subscribe to the Hyundai/KIA cars are trash stuff, because I have 1st hand knowledge to the contrary.

Edit: that wasn't a true statement. The clear coat on the 1st generation Genesis sedans was atrocious! Especially the pearl white cars (both of mine). The clear coat began peeling from the plastic painted bits.....both bumpers. It drove me crazy. It began around the 60k mile mark on the 2010 but was never an issue with the 2016.
