Try handing the officer a PBJ instead. He may may be unable to write you a citation because his hands are too sticky...

You'll have to excuse me....it's Friday.

In my area family members can actually get small police like badges to show once pulled over. The area where it would have the officers name is replaced by Mother, Father, Brother, Sister, etc. They cost like $50 and their good for forever basically

The other way is to donate some $$$ to the PBA and they may issue you one. I think the minimum to get one is $500.
PBA cards are only good for the year it was issued for.

They are really a hit or miss. You need to know information about the cop who gave it to you like how you know him, where he lives and works...etc

I know someone who has one and one of the cop that pulled him over asked him info like where he works, does he have any daughters...etc.
He used his best friend's info and the cop believed it.

Don't use a officer's name picked from the newspaper, they aren't their full names which is a trick all the cops knows.

AFAIK, the PBA cards are issued like this: NYPD PBA, county police PBA, detectives PBA, NYS Troopers PBA.

The NYS Troopers PBA also comes with a sticker that you put over the reg/inspection sticker in your car.

There's another way and it's called 'the thin blue line' or 'the thin red line'

It's basically a black 3"x2" reflective sticker with a blue or a red line going across it in the middle.
It's only given out from a cop to it's close relatives like wife, brother, sister, uncle, aunt...etc.

The 'thin red line' is from firemen.

I have one and stick it in my rear window from the inside.

This way if the cop sees it in the daytime, they'll know before hitting the lights unless you do something stupid enough to warrent getting a ticket.

At night time they will see it after they hit the lights and shine the spotlight at the car but your chances of getting off with a warning is better.

Apparently Ebay sells copies of them...
You seem to know a lot. Where can I get a PBA badge for my windshield? I see them on every car.

Does anyone else think this is the most ridiculous thing they've ever heard? You get a card from a cop and all of the sudden you're above the justice system at some level!? WTF!!!

It sounds like some 3rd world country BS.

Dude you don't want to know what else cops get to do in this country.

But this is absurd. I cant believe family members and such get a free pass. Wow you know a cop or are related to one so that means you can speed and others cant?

Wonder if Mass does that crap.

Why not just hand the cop some cash? Cut out the "association' middle-man (as if having that inane step somehow makes this legit)

Is this anything short of buying your way out of a ticket by favoring cops and their interests?

But here’s the thing that I’ve never had done before…he actually gave me back my PBA card. I’ve used PBA cards before and the officer would just keep the card and give me the warning. But this officer gave the card back to me.

Would I be able to use the card again should I ever get stopped again?

I use this (see top right) instead of a PBJ, I mean PBA

When you work in law enforcement, it ALWAYS works (as long as you're not a jerk), plus I have confidentiality plates. If a police officer was to run my plates for registration, it would come back to my employer (Sheriff's Office)

Whatever are you talking about?

My brother got pulled over this past weekend for making a left when he shouldn't have and he used the PBJ...I mean PBA card and the cop kept it. He was able to leave the scene with just a warning.

I guess some cops keep the card and others don't?

I've often wondered how an aircraft could "enforce" the speed limit. Thanks. Now I know.
