I've been dealing with esim problems since Nov 2022. In addition to the known software problem(s) is the fact that esim is associated with a cell phone # and not a car (VIN or otherwise). So when my wife took delivery of her 530ix in November and I got in the car with my phone it connected to the esim in the 530 and disconnected from my 760. When I subsequently got into the 760 it would not connect via esim -- it said it was already active in the other car. I blocked the esim in the 530 and set up again in the 760. That lasted a day as the 530 decided to unblock the esim, putting me into an endless loop. The solution was to cancel the Esim with ATT. Now at least the cellphone is not looking for an esim connection and the esim is off so it's not looking for the phone. I don't have the need for the wifi from the esim, don't have the need to make calls without my phone and don't have the entertainment screen option in the 760ix. My bad for waiting so long to cancel; and at this point I am unlikely to go back even if they fix the connectivity problems with a software update, because the two car problem remains.

Both BMW and Ubigi confirmed that the new software (11/2024) will fix the issue. As Ubigi is refunding payments, they are probably sure about this. Even BMW is now pro-actively offering to update my car. Normally they push back on updates as long as possible.
We'll see. Mine is planned for December 18th.

I suppose I’ll just wait until BMW and the app and the stars align to grant me the update.

Are people choosing this new (to me at least) option to “auto-install”? I hadn’t noticed that as an option on earlier updates…

Yeah, because of open issues which will explicitly by fixed with this update. Planned for that data.
They told it will be available for dealers to download starting 5th of December. Not sure when it will available over the air.

You probably didn't notice it before because it was just added as a feature to a recent myBMW app update (on Android anyway).

I do not have it selected because i like to control when to apply the update to my car. I like to wait a few days before applying the update so that others in this forum can try it out first to see if there are any downsides to applying it. :-)

My understanding is no. The last release is 11/2024.30 and it did not fix esim. BMW has said it is in a "future" software relase.

If you end up getting the update installed by the dealer, and if your esim works without issues with the 11/2024 can you let us know?

My bill is messed up verizon charged me activation fees for each time and I'm trying to get those settled right now.

My provider did a full refund. Didn’t even have to ask for it.

From a post in the i7 forum...appears the latest 11/2024.40 update does fix the eSIM issue. Here's hoping that it sticks.

That is good news I tried to get the dealer to install the latest one on my car when I was going to get an inspection sticker but they said they didn't have that update in the shop so I have to wait for the over there my service are either did say he would call me if it came in so I doubt that happens

My G60 is in transit to the U.S. so I’m not sure if this is something the VPC would update before shipping to the dealership. Definitely want this updated before I take ownership.

Since I’ve had no face time with the software, how can I check what version it’s on when I go to pick it up? Or what version is it so I can have the dealer check/confirm?

Current software version is shown in the myBMW app, or you can search software update through iDrive.

Click "check status" on the main screen. Scroll down to the bottom on the next screen and click "remote software upgrade." It'll show the current software version.

That's the same as on my car and probably most others'. That's from July of this year. I think the new one 11/2024.xx is supposed to be installed over the air sometime in January according to another post in the forum.
