They pull up next to you on the highway and rev and honk at you, and I continue the pace...I slow down to let them get ahead, or speed up to get a car length on them (its dangerous to be pacing incase I need to get out of the way of something in my lane and I can't because the stupid dipshit next to me wont move).

One guy paced me all the way up the Cross Island. Couldn't merge, couldn't change lanes, nothing. This guys Neon was hell bent on racing me (I even tried to get off the highway but I couldn't jam the brakes to make him overshoot without someone hitting me). So left without an option, I dropped 2 gears and was out on him. Then proceeded off the next exit .

I wasn't happy with what I did (had a friends girl in the car, and she freaked out), but it was that or call the cops...and I've never called the cops on the road before for such a situation, so I didn't know how long they were going to take.

Was it a red srt4 neon by any chance..same thing happened to me on the cross island...except i was not as patient as you...i just mashed the pedal to the floor hit the kickdown switch and pulled an immediate 4 cars on him...about 15 car lengths later he exited the highway

If you are at the track every weekend obviously it is going to take a toll on your car...also depends on which type of track we are talking like autocross or drag strip. Drag strip is really not going to hurt your car...just let her take a break between runs...Obviously can have excess wear on both clutch and tires but other than that you should be fine.

I always had people in little honda rice rockets trying to race my E90 325i. While the 325i isn't the fastest of cars, I would always beat them. Why do people insist on racing another car when they either don't know anything about cars or are just idiots and don't know how bad a car can kick their ass? I couldn't imagine why else someone in a junker would want to race a sporty car.

I know I'm going to get more fools in STIs and Evos looking to race with my E92 335i on the way. I'm not a fan of street racing, but if I'm on the highway, they better watch out when I get my procede and exhaust.

For the love of god, do not get your car impounded over a neon.

Is this legal what i do? i mean, technically, im not racing or speeding.
Actually, a cop can be an asshole and charge you with wreckless driving, which includes quick acceleration. They consider it a hazard I guess.

I don't think a high rate of acceleration is legal, but it could be viewed as dangerous depending on the situation. If your car makes tire noises, you may see flashing lights. Happened to me about a month or so ago. Officer was like, "didn't you see me?" He let me go, but it's best to be mindful of the situation at all times.

If you are racing another car, regardless if speeding, it can be considered drag racing, which in the state of Ohio will get you a 6 point fine.

Careful though, SRT-4 Neon with a tiny little bit of work > E92/E93 Straight line to 60 MPH.

Might have saved yourself a whole lot of embarrassment. Watch out for getting suckered into a humbling loss by some of these "ricers" you hold in such scorn.

blatantly ignoring those punks in neons/other cars that want to race all the damn time is the best thing to do IMO. it's great watching their reaction as you pay absolutely no attention to them, as they assume you are just a moron for not noticing and then they drive off, realizing how stupid they look. happens every time.

latest car to do this to me was a red saturn ion "redline" w/ one of the worst sounding exhausts i've ever heard

GJ kid, I dunno what kind of praise you are looking for but its good to know you are responsible.

I was thinking the same thing until 2 nights ago on the freeway when a E46 M3 pulled next to me and wanted to race. He got smoked pretty bad...but usually I won't race these morons with their shitty cars like Neons, Civics ect...i don't care how fast they are....

i think someone needs to learn how to multiquote

but i can't turn down a run from the lights if i am in my dad's car, it's too much fun to see the look on the person's face who you just left in the dust, lol... they always think that tailgating you after you beat them makes them a big person, it's quite funny

Hmmmmmm......SRT4 is a neon, but a pretty fast one. There is a dealers installable stage 3 kit for roughly $4000 (you can buy a supersprint catback on a 335 for that money) that cranks out 380 hp to the wheels for those cars. And don't forget, they ony weigh 2500 lbs.

I kinda wish you had ran him........this post might have been different when he smoked your pansy ass!!!

Sorry, but my ego will not allow a rev at a light without a response!!!

Good work OP, best to stay away from racing as tempting as it may be. Especially with friends in the car.

Those turbo neons are fast...dont dismiss them as a slow car..cause you can be very surprised.
