I usually have Apple Maps running on my phone but BMW nav up on my car. Apple is self reported just like Waze. So, it doesn’t filter BS. I get killed by a speed camera in Kirkland, WA. Tickets are expensive. It’s a permanent camera so no one reports it. BMW always reminds me that it is there in my HUD. I can pay for this 5 years and it will be less than my speeding ticket.

I am trying out using Waze as a back up to the BMW nav system. It is working out well. Waze reports everything on the road as if it has a destination set so it is like having 2 sets of eyes on the road. The BMW nav is a lot nicer also and shows up on my HUD which is very nice.

How do you have both nav systems (Waze and BMW) running on the screen at the same time. I like the idea, just not clear on how that's possible.

Do not have them both running on the screen. I have waze down in the charger tray and just listen for the alerts. The BMW nav up on screen. Going to look into having waze run as a widget while BMW nav is up on screen this weekend.

Interesting idea! I know you can toggle between the Apple Maps/CarPlay and the Native NAV by pushing the compass button at the bottom of the screen, but I haven’t seen if you can run them simultaneously - I like using the native NAV software as it gives me SOC estimates for the journey that Apple Maps can’t do. I assume that the road hazard warnings are built into the NAV system and not part of the traffic camera package. I’m not clear I’ll renew that one next year.

Just by chance I started the BMW nav and then the waze started and populated the screen along with my amazon music. After about 5 minutes driving home I realized tht even though the BMW nav was not on the screen the HUD showed the BMW nav turns and alerts as well as the turn indicators in the augmented reality screen.

I currently use both things individually. Lying on shortcuts for quick switching.

With the G60 with ID 8.5 you could perhaps have the BMW navigation system displayed in the instrument cluster and the other one in the large control display at the same time? Or navigation in the widget window and Apple Carplay in the large one?
I can't try it until March.

You can also place Apple Carplay as an icon on the bottom bar. Unfortunately, I don't know how yet.

I thought that icon appears automatically whenever you connect your phone to the car. Maybe there is some Apple Carplay or Android Auto configuration needed. ??

If you are in the navigation menu and tap the navigation button again, a submenu with Apple Carplay appears. Maybe also quite useful!?

I can run Car Play and BMW nav at the same time. I also use the Car Plsy icon at the bottom. I need to get text and Teams notifications, not just speed traps.

This is exactly what I was trying to describe - you can toggle between the two nav systems, but I’m not sure if you can put one in the widget, or perhaps use one in the AR mode in the dash and the other on the main screen

If so, please try the suggestions described here and report back. Best with pictures.

Yes, but I’m on the east coast of the US for a few days, will check it out when I get back to California later in the week.

Of course, anyone else with an M60 is welcome to try this earlier ;-)

Played around with trying to get the 2 navs showing in car today but the best I could do is start with adding a destination in BMW nav which was visible on HUD with the augmented reality arrows on driver screen and doing waze on the other screen.

That’s what I do. Keep the BMW in HUD and CarPlay on screen. I was able to split screen with a change in the HUD. I will need to experiment when I don’t have my husband around.
