I have mixed feelings about this...

On the one hand, I LOVE both characters and the direction the writers and directors have taken both franchises. Man of Steel was an awesome movie! The last couple of Batman films were also very entertaining.
What I don't get (and others on various comic and movie blogs agree with me) is why waste effort on a storyline that really is meaningless? I mean let's throw reality out the window here - Superman could literally knock Batmans head clean off of his neck with one uppercut... Dead! He could also freeze his ass into a Popsicle... Dead! And of course he could roast his ass alive into bat fajitas with Heat Vision... Dead! So even in comic world talk, the matchup is frivilous!
Instead, why not take a page from the EPIC successful MARVEL franchise and bring to life MORE DC characters: Aquaman, Wonderwoman, Flash, Cyborg etc? Even Green Lantern is a excellent character to develop. They simply focked up with the storyline, and writing. Or where they could REALLY boost their credibility and revenue of course... THE JUSTICE LEAGUE movie which is set for 2017 (why so foking long)!
Instead, they are "playing it safe" and giving us the same old bread & butter characters.
Oh I'll watch it of course because I'm a HUGE fan of comics! But come on DC... MARVEL is crushing you and the box office!!!!

I think its going to be pretty damn good. I also think they are going to use it as a way to introduce all of the characters from the justice league. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a "modern" take to the story line.

Also, I was completely against Ben Affleck playing Batman but from what it looks like, we are going to be seeing a much more badass and diesel batman than previously seen before. Batman relies on stealth and hiding in the shadows, Superman is the opposite. I think they have an opportunity to make a badass movie. Def going to reserve judgement until watching it. Trailer looks sick as well!!!

I know this. But if everyone is going to be honest with themselves... No way on earth or abroad does Superman not FUBAR Batman in 99.9% of circumstances. I don't give a shit if he's wearing armor and is also inside of another giant armor holding a crate of Kryptonite! affleck as batman is such a poor choice. it's so sad especially when the most recent batman trilogy left us wanting even more from nolan. for the people who say marvel is ahead of dc well it is, but just look at the marvel world and dc world. marvel has a lot more famous characters than dc does.

I agree... To a degree. Yes. As a whole, MARVEL has more characters: stand alone and groups: XMEN, AVENGERS, FANTASTIC FOUR etc

BUT... DC has very "iconic characters" in their own right: Wonder Woman should have had her stand alone movie years ago! The same for one of my all time favorite characters that I like only second to Superman: Aquaman! The Flash. Green Lantern (poor execution all around in his film caused poor revenue)
Captain Marvel aka Shazaam, has a VERY interesting storyline! Can you imagine a JUSTICE LEAGUE movie??? It would be EPIC!!! But DC is not pulling it's recources to bring and assemble the "talent": actors and directors to make it happen!

That was my question as well. I've never been into comics, so I guess I wouldn't understand. I've enjoyed the Marvel universe movies and Nolan's take on Batman though, so I am interested to see how this compares.

what i like about dc is that their characters are MUCH more developed and complex. i love marvel characters, but they are more entertaining than mind boggling. therefore batman being my favorite character. just my opinion though

The second half of Man of Steel was just people crashing into glass buildings for an hour. What started off good turned into a terrible movie.

Coming from the directing capacity of Nolan, Snyder is going to disappoint. Snyder would disappoint even without that comparison.

Then there's Benny. I'm sure there was no better choice for Bruce Wayne.
