I believe they stated their competitors weren't the boy racer cars but instead cars such as the 350Z, G35, and Mustang GT. However I bet the 4cycli turbo version of the engine will probably fall against cars like the si, etc.
Didn't they also say in the unveiling that the car had 30% more structural rigidity than an e46 M3? The video is on youtube to hear the designer and VP talk. They are really aiming at performance. Heres a few quick color combos I put together based on the side view

Its a good car for Hyundai but it is still Hyundai..... but its design and motor is very pretentious.. Hyundai is starting to grow up but they can not be the boss because the boss is BMW.......

Coupe: Sedan: I think the sedan looks great but would be better if it was a little more unique. It looks like a Lexus LS copy and might blend into the background, i.e bland. I think the coupe looks great but I'm not a fan of the windows or front bumper. Overall, I think Hyundai need to go for some common theme in their designs by using similar grilles etc. They also need to make models stand out better among other cars! But the point is that Hyundai has upped their game and are even offering RWD now. I think maybe by the next gen models people will stop thinking about the badge because they will be offering something to rival with the germans

yeah man! maybe you're right but have you ever thought that any audi or any hyundai can be more powerful than BMW? This is my idea and still I'm thinking that BMW is the boss. Because I drived a Hyundai and Audi but BMW is more comfortable than these two cars. Have you ever drived any Hyundai or Audi? But if you are looking their design maybe Audi can be better than some cars of the BMW but Hyundai can not be in the same place for me...But everyone's pleasure can be different....

I think the side profile is very nice. They can work on the back just a bit, but the front needs to get worked on a lot more. Other than that it looks and sounds to be very promising.
