Why does Green Tea stain my mug?

I can understand how coffee stains coffee cups and mugs and such. However, Im getting brown stains on the sides of my ceramic mug. If my tea is clear(ok light green) and Im drinking it pretty quickly an not letting it sit in my mug, how is it causing stains?

As long as it does not do this...I like it with some real cane sugar and a little lemon.

MAYBE it's the water source you are using, not the green tea itself?

Do you use yellow, blue, or pink rat poison to flavor the tea?

Coke is very acidic and oxidizes metal easily. You know dentists will tell you to avoid all the colored stuff when you get your teeth cleaned. Green tea does have color to it. Oh gosh, I just came from the 2 girls, 1 cup thread.

You're not drinking it fast enough or the cup was not clean to begin with.

The brown color is from the tea oxidizing, that in turn is sticking to your cup. Actually, its probably the other way around and residue is staying on your cup then oxidizing when you leave it. Either the cups not clean, or it may be pores. If the cup was clean and you drank at a normal pace it wouldn't happen.

FYI green tea is green because its low to no oxidization. Other teas are red/brown black because they were let to oxidize for longer. So your green tea turning brown is not a weird occurrence, kind of like an apple turning brown in the air.

Why would it be unsafe? Also, what does your green tea taste like?

Well id say 90% of Americans who drink green tea drink junk that can't be called green tea. I was just trying to figure out if you were in the majority or minority. I'm a bit of a tea lover.
