Question Sports Memorabilia

I have an autographed painting of Tiger Woods that I am wanting to sell. Does anyone have any advice for selling memorabilia like this and getting close to what its worth? I don't really want to waste my time with Craigslist since it would be a cash sale and there are so many scammers on there these days.

I would check out Ebay and compare what other sellers are asking for similar items. I currently have two jerseys on Ebay and I undercut the competition . If all else fails, maybe swing by a pawn shop

I've looked at Ebay and there weren't any the last time I checked. There are only 40 of the prints but I as able to find some online through other sites. I may check out a local pawn shop just to see what they'd offer.

Yea no shit. That show can be entertaining but damn. I always wondered how real the deals were. They rob people blind.

Sorry for going off-topic but this thread just made me remember that I have a Red Bull Racing hat signed by Vettel from Korean GP last year. I guess I will hang onto it until Vettel retires and see what kind of money it can bring

I think I see what you did here.... ha

OP; Sports memorabilia like this is sometimes hard to put an actual value on. I assume you have everything authenticated and such? Name of the artist that did the painting? What size is it? How is the condition of the frame? Is it painted on canvas?

There are quite a few factors that play into what draws a person to stuff like this, and ultimately the price they are willing to pay. People want something eye catching and different, so price can fluctuate based on the people who are showing interest. Hard core Woods fan would pay more than a Fuzzy Zoeller fan, so its finding the right person to get the most out of it.

If you can provide some of those details I may be able to help you.

Apparently I missed the joke.

Yes, I do have the certificates of authenticity and there were only 40 of the enhanced prints made (Artist - Malcolm Farley). Yes, it is on canvas is 27" x 42" and it and the frame are in perfect shape. I've found a few of the others online selling from $3,500 - $3,900 unframed but these are from dealers. I understand that it may take some time to find the right buyer. I was just looking for some ideas of avenues to look into to get a reasonable price for it.

Malcolm Farley is a very desirable artist because of his style, which works in your favor. If you do some digging around and don't mind leaving it on your wall, I've actually posted some memorabilia in locations where people tend to have disposable money for things like this on cragislist and had a lot of success. If you want an unbiased opinion, you can always take to a sports memorabilia specific auctioneer, they usually give decent appraisals, some can give you a tough round number via email as well as they have the best view on the market from day to day.
I had a Gordie Howe signed portrait that did very well at auction, but I've also had other items that did poorly that should have brought some good money, but thats the risk compared to a private sale.
If you have time, its worth it to poke around craigslist and find an area with a large amount of country clubs (simple google search), then advertise it in those locations specifically. I would give you a number, but like I said, value is completely dependent on who wants it and what you plan to get out of it. I would range it anywhere from $2800-$3800 framed, but thats about as close of a number I can give. I've seen some of his signed work go for $5k+, but other signed pieces for $1k.

Hope this helps.

I definitely understand value being dependent on whatever someone is willing to pay for it. You definitely made some good suggestions and I appreciate the input. Since I'm not in a rush to sell it, I will most likely try Craigslist and see what that brings. Fortunately, there is are a lot of exclusive country clubs in my area where people have disposable income.

While we're on this subject of sports memorabilia, I'd love this get this beautiful timeless piece done by the Great Billup autographed by Mr Ron Jeremy.

Can anyone call their buddy that knows everything about autographed porn memorabilia?
