I think the idea behind a 1 series is great. Small, fast, less expensive.

However that little car is pretty much hideous. its like they left some of the proportions from a 3 and slaped it on a smaller car.

For example: The head lights are WAAAY to large.

It reminds me of a little kid who hasn't fully grown into his big shoes yet.

I don't get all the arguing. Do the guys with 535's bitch that the same engine is in the 3 series making it faster for less money? And do the 750 guys bitch about the 5 series have the same V8 available for less money? There is more to it than just the engine.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the styling on the 1 series yet (have to see it in person) but I love the idea of the car.

I have one car seat in the back of my 3 series right now and it will be joined by a second in a few months. I have no choice but to own a car at least the size of a 3 series. If it wasn't for the kids though, I would give up a bit in looks and a bit in luxury (I'm assuming) to have what will be imo a more fun car to drive.

In the mean time, I will be waiting about 18 years before I can do something like that. lol

I completly respect that but some threads get very snooty and snobish over here about the one series and its hard to resist.

I like both cars and just happen to have a little more interest in the 1 serises, but when you have members here posting things like:

1. It's becasue you cant afford a 3.
2. The 1 will bring down the cache of BMW.
3. Sexual slurs about other posters sexuality.

Its hard not to get involed.

Both forums need to be nice to each other and at the end of the day they are both just cars for christ sake.

There are idiots here, just as there probably are some at 1addicts. Just click on "USERCP" and add them to your ignore list and you'll never have to hear from them again.

FWIW, much of what you found objectionable I never even saw because those posters already made their way to my ignore list for other jackass posts. Unfortunately, the guys over at 1addicts don't know which users most of us here know to ignore already.

I agree with this statement... styling of the one series is not for me, but to each their own.

I chose the 3-series b/c it works for me at this moment. The new 535 is starting to look damn hot to me and will most likely be my next car. But I'm not going to care if a 335 starts making some stupid comments?

But it will be interesting to see the threads popping up about Proceeded V2 1-series flying all over the place...

There are actually some pretty rational people over there, and they make some good points. There are a lot of people on this board that speak (write) before they think. Granted, they were on that "1" thread as well.

The major take a way for me was the fact that they really reinforced my strong belief that there's way way way too much "in-fighting" between BMW owners (or future owners with the 1 series). I simply dont understand why there is so much anger between all BMW enthusiasts. Just look at our forum....it gets proved everday.

I like the idea of the 1 series as well. I am not sold on the looks as of now, but I always reserve final judgment until I see a car in person. I went from a 545i to a 335i. I never looked at it as a step down. They are two different cars. I wanted a coupe and wanted something smaller this time around. The same goes for the 1 series and a 3 series. Two different cars. I'm not at all pissed the 135i will have the same engine as the 335i. I predict the 1 will be a good seller in the US. In the end they are all BMW's. That's all that matters. I just found the thread entertaining.
