Despite the motor industry’s current obsession with fuel efficiency and emissions, it seems that the hypercar arms race has yet to conclude as Koenigsegg announces the imminent arrival of its One:1; a car set to eclipse the standard-setting Veyron. Speaking with Bloomberg, company founder Christian von Koenigsegg revealed that the One:1 will feature a twin-turbo V8 capable of producing an eye-watering 1 044 kW (1 400 hp). Allied with an all-up kerb weight of 1 400 kg, this gives the One:1 a power-to-weight ratio of 1:1, hence the One:1 moniker. Performance resides firmly in the realm of superlatives with initial projections suggesting a 0-400 km/h sprint time of just 20 seconds on the way to a top speed that could be as high as 450 km/h. Should this sort of performance come to fruition it would make the Koenigsegg One:1 the fastest production car in the world, comfortably eclipsing the record-holding Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Word Record Edition’s 415 km top-whack. The One:1 is based on the existing Agera but features a number of lightweight composite components exclusive to the limited-run model, of which just six will be produced for public consumption with a price tag as eye-watering as the performance on offer.
