Dumb Idea? (Miata content)
My plan is to get an E90 335 through Euro Delivery. I've probably missed my window to do it before the end of the year though and wouldn't be able to run the autobahn in the middle of winter anyway. Therefore, I'll probably push my ED to April or later of next year. But if I'm going to wait that long anyway, why not wait to see what the E90 facelift looks like in March (-> May ED)? And if I really prefer the facelift, that means waiting until next September.
So, I'm seriously considering getting a beater to tide me over - a first-gen Miata for <$3000 that I can run in the mountains, take to autocross, use in the city, maybe build up into a road racer down the line. I've toyed with the idea of getting a Miata many times over the years and I've wanted to go racing, any kind of racing, since I was a kid. And I know that I won't be taking the 335 racing. Here's the rub: we don't have space for an extra car (street parking is fine though) and I don't really have much time to devote to a project car due to my travel schedule for work. So, what do you guys think? Find a Miata and beat the hell out of it? Or just concentrate on getting the Bimmer and enjoy driving it every free moment that I have? |

I'd say that if your schedule doesn't allow you to dedicate to a car, just get the Bimmer, you'll never regret it. And thinking about it,.... simply get the bimmer, it will be so much better for you. IMO

Get the bimmer, then get a spec miata. It should be more then enough for a few track days and canyon carving. + you wont need to mod the spec miata much, although i dont know how well it will do as a daily driver.
