new nissan GTR photo

The debut for this car is about 2 weeks away.

and the prototype supposedly laps the Nurburgring in 7:35

I'm eagerly waiting for this thing to come to NA (spring 2008)

edit:
found this video which gives a better view of the shape + the sound

I'll wait to see in person. At times, specs on paper are nice and all, but it doesn't live up to it in real life.

OT, but man that car must be hard to detail with all the crooked lines and bends, lol.

The is no way in hell the GT-R will run the Ring in 7:35. Not with 450 hp and 3500+ lbs weight.

P.S. the new Porsche GT2 ran around the ring in 7:32 with 530 hp and 3100 lbs weight.

This is my next car. Period.

As for the 'Ring time, perhaps it comes with near-DOT race rubber? Perhaps real HP is closer to 500 than 450? We know 550 is just a chip away regardless of the delivered HP.

Regardless, we know it runs the 'Ring faster than a 911TT, that's plenty impressive for me.

The r35 GT-R's engine is expected to be offered in variants from 480hp to 530hp. The Japanese car magazines claim that it will be offered with a choice of 2 different transmissions, 2 variants of the ATTESA AWD system, and over 20 different ECU setups (some for 'driveability', some performance-oriented). The lap time which is in question may have been one of the faster versions of the r35.

Plus, Nissan has lied about specs in the past with the r34 GT-R. They said 280hp, but the car got to 100km/h in 4.5s. And, the car's power output increased immensely with a few simple modifications. It's quite likely that Nissan isn't stating the true numbers with the r35.

Therefore, it's entirely reasonable to accept that the r35 is faster around the Nurburgring than the Porsche 911 Turbo. Nissan is supposedly aiming to beat the Carrera GT's lap time.

Also, Nissan has a superior awd system which might have something to do with the lap time.

and btw, a stock e92 335i laps the 'ring in 8:26.

So true about the numbers in HP. They were claiming 280HP with the R34, when on the dyno, people pulled numbers over 320+.

I'm really looking forward to the dyno numbers on the GT-R.

As for the skeptics, flame away.

I am. If the GTR is 4 seasons drivable (with snow tires) it will be my next car. Barring that, the M3 and C63 will fight for the job.

It should be, shouldn't it?

I would think that awd would make it better for winter than the M3 or C63.

Not really sure. I know people who have a 911tt and those are apparently no fun in the winter, even with snows. Some of that might be due to the rear engine though.

That's not a real life photo, and it's not even the same car.

The one you posted is the concept car from Gran Turismo.
