2015 Lexus IS-F Coupe
Quote:
" There's no question that the prototype pictured in these fresh spy shots is the all-new Lexus IS-based Coupe, but how can one be sure that it's the on-and-off (up until now, that is), F-badged high-performance version and not the simpler F-Sport variant? Glad you asked, because the answer is right in front of our eyes. Despite the liberal use of camouflage wrap on the body, if not all, most telltale signs that this is indeed the IS-F Coupe are here starting with the stacked twin tailpipes on either side of the diffuser along with what looks to be a retractable spoiler. Do want more evidence? No problem. Let's go around to the front where we find a slotted bonnet along with a caged "spindle" grille and huge corner air intakes. Finally, we take a look at the car's profile and the blistered front and rear wheel arches, the vented front fenders, sculptured side skirts and low profile tires through which we can see the massive brake calipers and discs. What we cannot see from these spy shots of the very first IS F Coupe in the history of the series is what kind of performance lump is hiding under the hood – at least for the time being. Lexus officials have hinted in the past that the previous IS F's 416hp 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 wouldn't be used in future models because it doesn't meet Euro 6 emissions standards. That said, we can only speculate about what Lexus is preparing – it could be a newer V8, a force-fed V6 or perhaps even a combination of one of the previously mentioned lumps with an electric motor, which would make sense for a company priding itself on planet-friendly hybrid technology. Whatever Lexus chooses, it will deliver somewhere around 450-horses to compete against the BMW M4, linked to an automatic or dual-clutch transmission driving the rear wheels. We also don't know for sure if Lexus will name the two-door model the IS Coupe or if it will use another moniker (even though it is based on the IS sedan) following the example of one of its chief competitors, BMW and its 4-Series. For the record, the concept that previewed the IS-based Coupe was named LF CC. Photo Credits: CarPix for CarScoopS"

Lines are not bad. I always thought the current ISF was too nose heavy aesthetically, although it had a decent aggressive look overall. Never been a fan of the faux quad exhausts.
I honestly don't know much about the 2014 IS but a lot of reviews have said that the driving dynamics are there (good, stiff suspension - very tossable around the cruves) Lack of a true MT is always a negative, but then again the C63 AMG only has paddle shifters as well. 450 horses in a coupe that size is definitely intriguing, especially if it's priced competitively. Historically the ISF has been anywhere from $5k-$10k cheaper than some of its european rivals. However IMO the standard bearer of this class has always been the CTSV coupe. Everything else is trying to catch up. |

I saw an IS250 with the F-sport package in person and kind of liked it. The car was pearl white, and the black F-sport grill really stood out. The red interior looked really nice, too.
If I was in the market for another sporty sedan, which I'm not at the moment, I might consider an IS250 with the F-sport package. They come with an NA six, and I'm not a fan of the new turbo four on the new BMW F30.

More pictures here at autoblog:
http://www.autoblog.com/2013/07/15/l...ot-is-f-coupe/ "Unfortunately, we still don't know what to expect in terms of engine – there's some evidence that the current car's 5.0-liter V8 won't meet European emissions standards. A turbocharged V6 of some kind would certainly match up with the reported mills in the upcoming BMW M4, however, and the hood scoop seen above lends some credence to that thought process. In any case we'd expect north of 450 horsepower in terms of output." |

I've always liked the IS-F. Definitely interested to see this bad boy (especially considering the way BMW is going with their 4 series... hopefully the M4 is something special...)

Well the first time around those stacked exhuast tips weren't real. They were just a cheesy design fitted to the bumper. Normally there are some good renders out there once shots like these come about. Anyone spotted any yet? Looking at these photos, that car has some wide ass hips behind those rear wheels. |

One fringe benefit the ISF has (and the C63 AMG imo) is rarity. M3s seem to outnumber the F and AMGs like 10:1:1 or something ridiculous.
The RS5 also has that rare factor going for it. |

Looks like it'll be around 460 -
"An RC F performance version will be unveiled in January at the Detroit auto show. A Lexus source says the RC F will be powered by a 460-hp V-8 engine, up from 416 hp on the current IS F sedan. There currently is no coupe version of the IS F in the lineup. By comparison, the BMW M3 has a 414-hp V-8, although insiders say the upcoming M4 coupe will have a 450-hp turbo-six engine. " Interesting they're saying V8. I saw the hood vents and thought "turbo" but maybe I'm wrong. Of course, I really need to see how much this thing will weigh. The last ISF had great torque but weighed 100 lbs more than the M3. |

But again performance wise the CTSV is still the cream of the crop in this class.
The base C63 is still 451 HP IIRC, although there's a special "507" version that will give you 507 HP. I was really hoping for the M4 to hit 500+ to really make a statement in this class. |

The CTS V is also a heavy sucker, at least when compared to the smaller 3 and C class. I'd much rather see a lighter M3 than one with more power, but I'm not holding my breath for that either. |

RC-F is looking Awesome!!! - Loving the mesh wheels, Active Spoiler, BBK
NA 5.0 V8 with 460hp sounds good to me! M4 vs RC-F should be fun...I'm saving my $$$$ for one of these.
