Drove a G37 tonight

I'll make this quick because I am pretty mad..

Took out a 6sp sport:
+ engine sounds great
+fit/finish seemed pretty good, better than old model
+gearbox is pretty tight and nice, much better than last model
+very quick steering, though too light.
+excellent handling

- this car dos NOT feel as fast as my 335 at all, i thought they were pretty similar in acceleration but it really didn't feel like it.

Ok that's enough of that..

My reason for posting this is to vent.
1. the salesman bashed the 335 (i told him i was looking at one)-saying they are boring, 1982 interior, run of the mill car out there, too expensive, blah blah.

2. he told me a story about 2 "chinks" who totalled a G35 coupe on a test drive..

Um ass hole..my wife is Chinese. I didn't have the balls to say F U to his face right there, so i left.

I'm not a guy to start shit and i let stuff roll of my shoulders..but that's not cool at all. I'm thinking abou ttalking to the manager about this.

Oh..i liked the G37 a lot more than i thought i would..very nice car, much better than the old one. Not as good as the 335 though...

This is a little bit out of topic but I would like to mention something.

I just received by e-mail G37 advertisement with the Motor Trend article about "The King is Dead".

What I do not like about infiniti is they marketing the car talking s**t about others equal or better.

As a general ethics behavior in sales you never talk bad about your competition. I have visited MB and BMW dealers and I have never heard a salesman talking s**t about each other. Because they know every car has their attributes. What would happen if the infiniti salesman end in a BMW dealer. What credibility this guy would have?

The G37 is a nice car but in my opinion the strategy infiniti is using about the "king dead" is ridiculous. They can marketing the G37 in many ways without talking bad about others cars.

I would voice my concern to the manager.

It's funny you mentioned how the salesman talked shit about BMW, same with the Acura dealership that I visited. The salesman had the balls to say that the TSX was better than the 330i.... yeah

While I was over at BMW, I told them what other cars I was looking at, the salesman simply said, take your time to compare, but we feel that the cars we built are ahead of the competition

No shit-flinging on other manufacturers, I respected that.

usually when people talk smack, its because they feel this is the only way you will like their product more than the other, be it a car or not, if one product is obviously superior they dont have to down-talk the other product, because the quality of what they are selling will sell itself

Eh, it happens. When I was shopping for my 335i I had a CA at a dealership say my G35 was a piece of shit and that the Japanese should stick to making sushi.

My CA was pretty cool and said other makes make good cars. He said that before my test drive knowing full well the 335i would do all the smack talking necessary!

anyway, yah seems the G37 is a very good improvement of G35, but it's still not quite there.
Have you had the chance to play with navi and other gadgets? now those kick major #%^ on 335. I wish i could swap my iDrive with that navi hehe

my BMW sales person test drove my G35. he complimented on it a lot and was fair to both cars

I actually didn't mind the bmw bashing that much, i expected it. What bothered me was his racist comment..that's not cool no matter who you are talking to. Big turn off..

Inifiniti is still bitter because they lost the suit regarding the letter "M".

Regardless, its all about the dealership. Ive been in BMW dealerships where they bash the competition, just make a complaint to the manager to deal with it.

My Infiniti dealership was actually really cool. They let me beat the piss out of a g35 sedan and then called up the BMW dealership to find a salesman to deal with me so I could compare the 335. That was very cool of them.

imho, i like the look of the g35 coupe a LOT more... the new g37 looks like a fat "sporty" catfish

People can say all the want about how that car handles just as good or better than the 335i. The fact is , japanese cars drive TOTALLY different than german cars and the feeling is night and day between the two. I don't care what Infiniti does to that car it will never feel as good as a BMW or be as fun to drive. I drove a G35 for 2 yrs and I am never going back now that I have driven a BMW lol.

Test drove both on the same day before purchasing the 335...

My own observations...

G37 "felt" faster but I believe thats due to the fact that the 335 has a more linear power delivery instead of a somewhat brash surge in the G37.

G37 has more gadgetry inside the cockpit, when compared to the clean interior of the 335

335 felt smoother and easier to drive fast compared to the G37, in part due to the bad driver visibility in the G37

Both cars look good, (its all a matter of preference) some people say the 335 looks too plain, some people say the G37 looks bloated, etc...

Ultimately I went witht he 335 because
1) My age... I can see myself in the 335 for the next 4-8yrs, while I think I would out grow the G37...
2) The price difference was only about $5000 more for the 335... (if it were $10,000 then I might have ordered the G37)

G's "feel" faster coz there is your launch and there's a second kick when torque maxes at like 4-5k rpm.
