On the 'Ring', the GT-R has already passed the 911 Turbo by a long shot. If everything goes as planned for Nissan, their GT-R will match the lap time of the $400k Porsche GT.

Ive never seen the weight figures but the hp figures are very high. Sorry dont remember exactly what they were. But it was more than 450hp that I know. I'm going to assume that the weight is sub 3000lbs because its not easy for a heavy car to make that kind of time.

Suspicious
I agree with T Bone. It does seem like "under 7:35" with "more than 450 hp" (heck even close to 500) and around 3500 lbs (=~1590 kg - which is the best guess rumors/estimates I have seen) is inconsistent. Everything under 7:40 is pretty much >=500 hp and <=1500kg.
The P-C-GT is 612 hp and 3043 lb. That is sick, sick, sick (although many accounts list it weighing in closer to 3250 lb - perhaps famous P under quoting of weight...). Unless Nissan has discovered something magic about AWD that Porsche (and everybody else) knows nothing about from their extensive racing experience and heritage I am suspicious. If the time is true then either the best guess/rumor of power or weight or both figures are off quite a bit. But damn under 7:35 is REALLY SICK. |

I have a tough time believing this, although I have seen this car in a bunch of articles showing how fantastic it is. I guess we will see when the specs get released in October...

I think it's 7:38... I'll have doubts if the GT-R doesn't have significantly higher power/weight ratio than the 997 Turbo.
http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/secret_...id=1073&page=1 The 997 Turbo is in the process of being upgraded but I don't know if it's due to the GT-R |

It is uncertain whether or not the 997tt will get a facelift and/or any power upgrade. If, it does it will likely be no more than 15-20 hp. Remember, PAG will likely save some room for the S, which typically debutes as a last year of the MY run (The tt is only in it's second year.). Then there is the powerkit option which hasn't been released yet, which will likely yield 25-30 hp. Anything that PAG does, of course, can not cannibalize GT2 sales (530 hp). I also read somewhere that the car would weigh at least 3600 lbs. and yield no more than 480 hp. I can't imagine either version of the GT-R weighing less than 3000 lbs. |

I appreciate people chipping in with the weight/hp numbers, but are any of those official, or are they just magazines guessing? I haven't seen anything from Nissan. For all we know, this think might weigh 3300lbs and have 500hp+? We pretty much know that it will be a fairly large displacement twin-turbo 6, right? There is a lot room for power in there...

This forum is for opinions, right? Well... my opinion is that the lesser version will weigh significantly more than 3300 lbs. The maxed out version (whatever it's called) will obviously wiegh less, but how much really, if you consider it's likely going to have AWD. Good for Nissan. PAG needs some serious competition. I hope it does kick the tt's butt for a bucket of cash less. But, imo they have to make it a little prettier! |

I don't think power is the issue.... it is the weight, the consensus seems to be around 3400-3600 pounds. At that kinda weight, you would need 700 hp, 12 inch wheels etc, to get around the ring in 7:35. What I meant as a ring special is a one off car like the V12 X5 that Hans Stuck drove when the X5 first came out to prove it wasn't a truck

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/au...issan_gtr.html Ok Lucid, this is where I saw the time of the GTR last week. And its not more than 450hp as I originally stated. It is 450hp. Also its actually a better time than the one listed above as well. They state 7.15 but unfortunately they don't give weight specs. Hope this helps.
