Response to my reply of Craigslist ad
I replied to a listing for a 2002 Hummer H1 and asked if was still for sale and if so, could seller please send over some pictures. My email was very brief, polite and had just two specific questions.
Seller replied about 8-9 hours later, "Hi, with whom will I be speaking with?" I'm a bit put off that he didn't even acknowledge my questions and just came back with that reply. My initial thought was to reply with, "no one, I'll look elsewhere." But now I'm just leaning towards deleting his reply and moving on. Am I overreacting? Or would his reply put you off too? It isn't like there is a huge pool of buyers for these things. |

Maybe it's a car dealer? I wouldn't be offended - perhaps the seller is more of a "social" person. Or, he just finished a Dale Carnegie course.

Did they really use "With" twice in the same question?
Sounds like a idiot, but I'd give it one more response to feel out the situation a bit more. You don't want to walk away from a good deal prematurely |

Seller wants to make sure you aren't Prince Nakuma Dikembe Wotombo Mutombo III. If you are that interested in this H1, then my all means close the deal =)

I know the H1 is silly, but I still kinda want one, there's a couple for sale in my area, the wagons, and I don't know why, but I really want one.

Indeed he did. But what I think it was, was actually a subconcious cry for help from OT. See, subconciously, he recognizes he has a very thin skin and little comments hurt him deeply. So he created this thread so that we could pile on top of him and help him grow a thicker skin so he can better survive in the real world. I kid, I kid. |

I personally don't think that giving your telephone number to a completely unknown person in the very first message is a very good idea. There are as many seller scammers out there as there are buyer scammers. But you shouldn't be surprised to encounter sellers that won't take you seriously until you at least give them your name. They will either ignore you or respond with something like what you got. And they make a valid point, if you ask me, even if they themselves do it in a hypocritically rude fashion.
