Anyone in to R/C Multirotors?

Just picked up a dji 550 kit to start on. Looking forward to shooting some video and FPV stuff with it.

Seeing if anyone else was into this stuff.

Thats awesome! Got any photos of your set up? What is it filming with and what are you using to control it?

Mine is still being built.
So far I just assembled the DJI 550. Still needs the gps and a nice radio to use it. Pretty much the expensive parts.

Here is what mine looks like minus the GPS.

I just took that video from youtube.

Another video. Can't wait to shoot some
With those video goggles you pretty much just sit in a chair and fly. With the right setup you can fly over a mile while viewing the camera live. Pretty sweet. Bad part is flight time is usually less than 10 minutes. Still very cool though.

I know right? I started flipping through more videos and before I knew it I was watching a 25 minute video on how to make a pan/tilt camera mount for RC planes and pricing out rigs.

Alright, wow, dammit, that's cool. I have always thought this looked awesome but never gotten into it. I have a lot of hobbies already and this one is just a little outside my realm of affording to get into. I like the video, thanks for sharing it.

I think only a 2-4 pounds. I've seen others upgrade motors and carry a 12 pack of beer.
There are alot of other multirotors out there that are more serious.

My radio is on the way! Going to be flying this weekend and hopefully not crash

Put the keychain camera on my heli (just velcro) . Looks like crap with the shakes/vibrations from the 6 motors, but promising. Just need a stabilizer setup now and the footage should look pretty sweet.

I hate to say it, but ya it's pretty easy and intuitive. I've been flying rc a little for a while so the only thing to get used to is reversed control when flying back towards yourself

I've been looking into the Phantom quadcopters and came accross this video. Looks like this thing will be pretty sick once it hits the market.

Its about a new model that isnt out yet with its own camera. It has some outstanding features for an entry level item. the video is long, but halfway through to the end he talks about some sweet features.

Oh definitely. I usually never post the keychain cam videos because of that.
I wanted to get fpv setup before getting a stabilizer so i have more practice.

I have a DJI F550. Bought mine last week.

My ship includes:
- DJI F550 frame blacked out
- Naza M V2 w/ LED setup
- Tarod 2-Axis Gimbal for the GoPro 3+
- Photoship One Carbon Fiber Landing Gear
- DJI iOSD mini
- Fatshark Predator V2 FPV Goggles
- Futaba T8J Controller
- Pulse 6600mAh 4S battery & 2200mAh 3S to run my iOSD and gimbal and LED strip.
- Carbon fiber 10x3.8 propellors
- 2 switches to control power to gimbal and LED's

here's my ship

welcome to the f550 club try and join rcgroups.com forum. It's addicting. all in for about $2,400 including gopro, and I'm just about to pick up another dji f450 without gimbal to practice more. my setup is specifically for videography and real estate photography, so it's a bit more intense than other f550 setups.
