Canadians, how do I enter your country with a felony record?
So the GF wants to go to your stupid country, god knows why...but she said something about going to Niagara Falls or something, i told her you can see that shit from Buffalo, NY...then she went on and on about getting exotic fruits not available in the states and checking out the night life...
Some may or may not know i used to run a casino at my apartment (the boiler room) back in 04 and was busted with illegal gambling operation charge...i was a bitch and my sleezy lawyer told me to plead guilty and get the sentence reduced...i did a little time but was also slapped with a Felony on my record...i know Canada doesn't allow Felons into their country, and she really wants to go...is there something i can do to go with her? Do they even check my record at the border?

We're Vietnamese, my relatives used to bring back a bunch of shit that you can't get here in the states, if they have it here it's frozen and not fresh..i'm talking about these
and there are these that look like hairy testicles but tastes really good...one of my favorite I know Canada has less stricter laws on imports and exports so they can get shit the USA can't get

Does she know you have a record?
Also, living in Toronto and Quebec at the moment... you will have to drive up to Toronto in some Asian markets to get those kind of fruits. You won't find those in Niagara Falls! |

Its an odd law. My uncle has a felony DUI and he still goes up without any issues. Its a roll of the dice. Ive been up there a few times to Niagara Falls/Clifton Hill. Its all over priced bullshit. The one good thing to do up there is drive a couple miles and hit up the Sundowner

It appears that your GF wants you to propose to her either at the Falls or at someplace exotic and romantic - Bali, perhaps? |

When I traveled to Canada by car a few years ago, going in and leaving was easy just a few simple questions were asked and I was on my way. I brought my passport just in case but ive read that you need some type of form of ID other than your DL to get over the boarder.
As for bringing fruits back that you cant get in the US, well that was one of the questions they asked on my return if I had purchased any fruits or vegetables during my stay and still had them.

I used to fly into Toronto and Montreal quite a bit and saw many fellow crewmembers dealing with this. Most of the time the problem was with DUIs, not a felony in the US but apparently in Canada they are, which disqualifies one from entering their country. I have no idea about driving across the border but if you fly in, you will be detained if you have a felony on your record and you will not be allowed in to Canada. Maybe they don't run every passport at the road checkpoints Crew could get permission to enter but it involved going through some process with the Canadian government. Not sure if that is available to everybody, I'll let you figure that out.

Went to Whistler last month and coming into canada is very easy. They ask you a few questions and scan your passport then off you go. Coming back into the U.S was a little annoying, waited in line for over an hour. Canada is a great country, they dont make you pay for bridge toll! lol

Went to Vancouver few months ago. They ask you dumb questions like which hotel are you staying at, what will you be doing there, etc. But they definitely will check your passport
