Funny how people talk about this. It has zero impact on my life and shouldn't if you drive a BMW.
How about the $11 margarita? Gas is dirt cheap and I'm happy to pay. |

Good thing I have an ingrate for a wife and two small kids that keep me from burning gas frequently.

Gas is dirt cheap? What planet do you live on? Unless you just got your drivers license in the last few years you know that gas is ridiculously expensive. Not too long ago it was well under $2/gal. |

To me, it's a small price to pay. Unless you're driving over 20,000 miles/year, I'm just not seeing the impact. If you're that tight on money, drive a different car or earn more money. |

There are so many reasons as why gas pricing keeps rising. The European market for gas does effect our. Theirs has been rising for a couple reasons. OPEC has been limiting the amount of fossil fuel coming out of the middle east. They noticed that when they first started, gas prices skyrocketed as did their wallets. So they continually kept withholding. Also with more turmoil in the middle east in oil producing countries, this has scared investors. These are just two of the bigger reasons. But in the end, the European market effects our market even though a chunk of ours doesn't come from the middle east.

The Iran embargo coupled with investors is what has driven the price up. This is why oil speculation needs to be controlled. You have people driving the price up to make a profit who will never take delivery of the futures they are buying and it's screwing everyone else.

Nerdy, but I actually logged gallon prices for every fill up I did last year, out of curiosity, just to see how wildly it fluctuates. Probably about 90% of my fill ups are at my same two locations so it's a little more solid data (removes regional/city/etc... effects). Doing the same for this year as well. I will say that coming home from work around 2300 one night last week prices were $4/gal for 93. 9 hours later it was $4.40. It dropped back to $4 on Saturday but was back to $4.3x on Monday. I agree with Seminole....speculation needs to be controlled.

I am far from rich(may be hard to tell by the used BMW I drive...) but $3 or $5/ gallon is not that significant difference. if you drive 12,000 miles a year at 25mpg its only $80 month difference.
I don't even look at prices. although I am cheap on everything else. |

We still pay less for gas than anywhere else in the world..(except for maybe the middle east) and we use the most. |
