335 v Scion tC...Seriously

So I'm driving home today from running errands, doing about 35, and this dork in a tC pulls along side, and then tries to race me! He keeps gunning it and sliding ahead 4-6 feet, then dropping back even. The third time he did it I slipped into second and waited. We were coming up to a part of the road where the speed limit jumps 20 mph and there's 2 more lanes. Needless to say, it wan't much of an event. I hit 60-70, and he was 3-4 cars back.

Is there something I'm missing here? Is there some combo of mods to be done to a tC that even gives the guy a slight idea there's a possibility here? Does the 3 tier tail fin add that much hp? WTF

further down the road, my wife starts giving me a hard time because she though I was slowing down for him...I looked at her, and pointed to the speedo - we were doing 60 in a 40. The thought we were doing about 25.

This car is going to get me in trouble!!!

i know PLENTY of tC drivers who think their car is the fastest thing in the world. i dunno what it is that makes them think their tC is this high performance machine. i blame it on marketing. i hate when SUV and pick up truck drivers drive recklessly or are racing a passenger vehicle. then i remember the dodge commercials who used to show their dodge ram pick up passing porsches. i think the same can be said about tC drivers. they see the fancy commercials showing their car being modified with techno music in the background...

Funny you mention tC drivers. I just started noticing the same phenomenom myself, not necessarily directed at me but just doing silly things like revving their engine at lights.

Unless this car was completely riced out. I dont see the harm in it. He just wanted to see how fast your car was. To call him a dork and say he was dumb for even thinking he could keep up. Just adds to the BMW stereotype.

Unless he was a straight up ricer, the guy was just having some fun. Also you dropped it into second and were ready. Obviously your gonna pull on him.

He might have tuned his car and thinks that your car is over-rated like most car manufacture do but the fact is BMW itself under-rated the performance of N54.

i had a scion tc, and adding a 16g could net you 220 whp at 9lbs of boost. It was a small turbo so power was instant. I loved it for the little while I had it.

a t3/t4, while it spools slower can up you all the way up to 300whp (boost over 14 though). That may be what delusioned the guy into running with you. Your small twins kill him however because of their fast buildup.

all this in a car that weighs under 3000!

the downfall of the car however is front wheel drive. If he had tried to pul at you at a light, he would just be spinning his wheels. I dumped my tC because a LSD for the car would end up costing 3k to put on, and for the price of all these upgrades, I decided to jump ship and JUST save up for a 335i!

And there is my story of converting to the dark side!

Yeah, call me a sucker, I went for it, sorta. Never made it past 1/2 throttle, quit when I hit 60 in a 50. As for rice, I believe a 2.5 ft tall spoiler on the back with an asian character decal in the rear window qualifies as rice. And the girl in front wasn't that hot, I don't know who he was trying to impress (my wife?).

me. and i beat it. it was 997 carrera.. the man was shocked. we raced 3 or 4 times. from a dig all the way to 140. and i pulled on him by one or two car lengths once we got to around 90mph.. when we took off he was about a car length in front and then i started reeling him in
