ROFL - "preppers"? That's awesome.
Have never heard that before - I hope it catches on. No. I'm not a "prepper". Most Canadians aren't. We only fear our Southern neighbours...everyone else thinks we're ok or at least not worth bombing. And the pretend zombies are only in Florida right now. |

No, I should have some stuff in the event of another earthquake. I'm not going to be 'prepping' for 'buggin in' for two years or some nonsense like that.
I do have guns and ammo...but that stuff is more collection/hobby then 'prepping' |

I'm not prepping for the end of the world or anything, but I make sure to keep my pantry stuffed to the gills even though there's just one of me. As long as I could fill the bathtubs with water i probably wouldn't have to leave the house for a month or two.
Tons of ammo, too, BTW, but that's more in prepping for another price spike or some kind of ammo regulation, but it's also good in case anyone wants to raid my pantry. A couple months of civil unrest isn't as far fetched as it sounds. My biggest concern would be a cyber-attack on the electrical infrastructure, which'll become an increasing concern as smart-grid tech is implemented. There are pieces of hardware that are no longer manufactured in the US. It'd be chaos- no power to communicate, pump water, run the hospitals, pump fuel to move supplies, heat or cool buildings, many of which would become uninhabitable, refrigerate food, etc. People would be stuck and dying or desparate in a week. The destruction could set the economy back decades. Of course, if you could last it out, a lot of the stupid people would be dead, and a lot of the violent people would've killed each other, so it'd be a pretty nice place after a few years :P |

I don't know about that. I always feel like in that kind of scenario the gangs would have a severe advantage. They're already organized, have plenty of weapons and ammo, and would not hesitate to commit violent acts to take what they needed from others, especially since there would no longer be any law enforcement to worry about. The good people would get overrun, and the competing gangs would set up their territories before moving on to find more supplies.

True- the worst of the worst would survive, but in the mean time all the baddies would be fighting it out over turf and killing each other. Just have to make your neighborhood harder to overrun than the one down the street.

Been scoping out "locations" near the house, with an eye to where to hoard supplies and be able to keep out the zombies since Reagan was prez and I was sure he was going to press the button.
I don't have full on supplies other than every car has about 3 days of water/MREs in a kit, along with an extra pair of boots and jackets. |

Plus, you'll likely find that gangs will be placing high value on very different things like TVs, electronics, etc... rather than food, water, fuel, etc... Just my $.02

I'm ready for anything short of a zombie apocalypse. NYS won't let me have a high capacity AR.

Never heard of it, but sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out- I only watch old stuff on Netflix. This has been a concern of mine for several years when I was involved in an official preliminary assessment. There were articles about new vulnerabilities in "Wired" as recently as last week.
