Calling All Cyclists! Post Pics Of Your Machine, Or An Event You've Participated In!

Thought I'd get a thread going since there was an equivalent motorcycle thread. I'm sure it won't be half as popular, but it'll be great to see who else puts their own power on the road, and the machines they do it with.

Here's mine for starters: 2010 Cannondale Supersix Liquigas Team Ed. Got rid of my Trek Fuel earlier this year since I don't see the trails too often anymore.

The super 6 Evo that came out looks awesome. Do you ride for a team?

The EVO is supposed to be nice, but I saw one a week ago and the very thick top tube looks pretty odd compared to the thinner seat tube. Definitely a light bike though!!

I used to ride competitively a few years back. Do it mostly for fitness/recreation now. It also helps to be friends with a Cannondale dealer

I really should get a new bike. This is just a ride up Flagstaff Mtn. where the Boulder stage of the USA Pro Challenge will end.

You've got the right roads for training and awesome scenery!! We have semi-decent roads in Austin, but nothing like Boulder and that Trail Ridge Pass. Did the loop in a car one summer and saw some folks on bikes. Seemed pretty brutal though since the winds whip by pretty quickly!

Thanks for sharing though... bike still looks awesome and very reliable!!

Only problem is that Taylor Phinney and other pros have all the Strava KOMs around here, there's no chance for us little people! But you can't beat this area for the cycling culture.

Like the OP's bike.

Here is mine last year after I picked it up and then now, hanging in the garage.

Yes, the tape has been changed a couple of times; once after an accident. Not as fancy or nice as others but is a Cannondale SuperSix. As for events, no dedicated cycling but this bike has seen competitive action:

Numerous Sprint Tri's
Two Olympic Distance Tri's
Beach2Battleship Half IM Tri
MountainMadness Half IM Tri
Will be down in Miami this November for the Miamiman Half IM Tri (might need to stop in and see the guys at Active )

I do have a Trek 4300 MTB in the basement that I ride from time to time on the trails.

...'nother Cannondale in the house!! Is it the Hi-Mod frame? How'd you like it so far??

One thing I don't like so much is the rattling of the derailleur cable on the thin walls of the downtube. Might put some of the extra clear protection film that I used on my rear bumper to fix that.

Good question, I am not sure on the frame. It is a 2011 SuperSix full carbon with 105 components. It is a racier bike than the old Trek aluminum this replaced. It was between this and a Specialized. One of the guys at the LBS who I had been on many groups rides with suggested this one. He said I needed a more aggressive bike, whatever that means as I am not fluent in the differences.

Regadless, I have thoroughly enjoyed it and it now seems like an extention of myself.

I haven't had any issue with rattling fortunately.

Not the lightest thing on the road, but it's stiff and handles great.

great choice with the SuperSix. It's definitely an aggressive frame compared to the Synapse, and still does a great job dampening the road bumps without compromising stiffness.

Very nice! Seen a couple of Wiliers on the road... they're pretty bikes. I like that they use top notch FSA pieces to outfit their bikes. I had Fulcrum zeros on my previous bike and boy did I like them!! Coming to think of it, I probably should've kept them.

I was thinking of getting a commuter bike too since my work commute is all of 8-10 miles per day. Maybe one day I'll succumb.

Sure, we can chime in... but it'll also be a good idea to speak to someone at your local bike shop to give you an idea of the range of options available. Brands are one thing, but there's a lot of variability in the bike lineup these days too.

Personally, once I know what I'm looking for, I'd buy a used bike with low miles. The used market favors buyers because bikes depreciate a lot faster than cars do, and usually the people that sell the decent ones are those who didn't end up committing to cycling in the end. Used/abused ones show obvious signs of wear.

What are you looking to do with the bike? Trail riding/ road riding/commuting? With your height, you're gonna definitely be looking for at least a 60cm road frame or a 21.5" (XL) mountain frame.
