I am so out of the loop, Alternatives to Limewire?
Lol I feel like such an internet n00b sometimes,
What can you use now similar to limewire that actually works? Torrents can be a bit of a PITA if you just want one song, Anyone help me out?

Most people just search google for the .MP3 file and find a site hosting the download link.
Also, plug a Cat 5 in at a public library. |

Lol I know what you mean. Man do I miss browsing kazaa for good songs (read: clicking every link possible). Nowadays a simple youtube conversion or private sites usually do the trick

It's gotten much more difficult to grab single MP3s off file-sharing sites (with links from blogs, etc.) after the legislation of the past few months.
I've gone from quick convenient DLs to having to select individual files in torrents (which is a pain if it's a magnet link and the files aren't displayed right away) or single-mp3 torrents. Hulkshare is a good site, as is 4shared. Youtube conversions often sacrifice quality so I avoid that route. kat.ph and piratebay are good for torrents, as are private sites (superseeds, iptorrents) |

Dont use a youtube converter, they are garbage and like others said, you lose the quality.
I found this app a few months ago and have been using it since. Its very simple and there is no spam DL's. Because it is based out of the UK, it doesnt have the greatest search database but it works for now.... Heres a link http://code.google.com/p/thepirateapp/downloads/list Other then that app, all you can really do is a google search and use 4shared and other sites as posted.

+1 to torrents. People are sometimes worried because torrents seem difficult to do, but they're not. You download a torrent program (like basic Bit Torrent I still like to use), and then go to a torrent site (kat.ph or thepiratebay.se are the biggest). There are lots of torrent search engines but a lot are just searches of the search sites and generally filled with spam. You'll be fine with the big ones. Search and click to download on the torrent sites, right click the torrent file and "open with" bit torrent, and then you're good to go.
If you don't wanna mess with torrents, beemp3.com is a song search engine and is usually good for finding pretty popular songs. No albums, just individual songs.

I'd say don't steal anything but major label music. Major labels screw artists out of their money, and the bands make the most money off of shows and performances. Meanwhile, the label corporate staff are making a killing off the sales. "Stealing" major label music is like taking a molecule of water out of a cup. But for indie labels and local/lesser known bands, don't steal their music. It's not that much money for you, but it makes a world of difference for them. Then again, major labels have the lawyers. But recently judges have been ruling that an IP address can't identify a person, so maybe you're safe
