What amazes me is that the Edmunds guys just cannot give credit where it is due.
71.3 mph in the slalom is an AMAZING number. Absolutely amazing, and they mention nothing of it. On the same tires as a 335i sport... and not run-flats! 335i got 68.4 mph and they were like "ooooh this car is better than our M3 competition package!" The G37 trounces both of them -- except in straight-line performance. And it's a pretty car... with a limited-slip differential and 4-piston brakes. Bigger rotors than the 335i. Good stuff to keep BMW working and not getting too complacent. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big BMW fan, but I'm not loyal to brands, I'm loyal to good products. BMW's DNA is good, so far... but others are trying pretty hard to replicate it. Now they just need to put that new ZF transmission from the 335i in the G37... then you basically get a 335i for $10K less. Good deal! Equally styling, better handling, and almost equal straight-line perf. BMW I hope you're taking good notes! Last edited by Rando; 06-24-2007 at 09:55 PM.. |

Listen its still a nissan, being a reformed g35 driver its a great car, I just outgrew the go-kart like ride, the interior is made of the cheapest materials, sqeaks and rattles galore.

over 3700 pounds.......My GTO is 3750 an it is just to heavy.
Nice car the G37 is. Really does nothing for me and I like the style of the G35 more. Still a nice car for the money. I think that engine is also tweeked out to the max.

I very dislike how BMW drivers say "it's a Honda", "it's a Nissan", etc. For its price range, I think it's a hell of a car. |

Pretty much what i had expected (and I came from driving a loaded and modded '04 G35 and a loaded '03 FX35...and loved them both); a major improvement of the previous generation G35, but still comes up short against the BMW 335i. Based on the performance numbers that C&D and Edmunds.com just got for the '08 G37, it won't be quite as competitive for a stock 335i as some had guessed, let alone a PROcede or XEDE 335i.
All I can say is that it's going to be a lot of fun running a against an '08 G37 in my PROcede 335i...that guy in his brand new G37 (feeling all confident that he can finally beat a BMW 3-series) is going to be so f'kin pissed when I walk him!!!! :rocks:

I don't get it, those acceleration times are no better than the 2007 G35 Sedan and I think a tick or so slower than the 2007 350Z.
The handling numbers are really impressive. As for looks, I need to see the car in person before my final verdict is in but it looks good in photos, but not quite as curvaceous as the first gen version. |

that is one LONG and boring review. u can tell he's not a fan of the Nissan Badge and tries to make the g37 sound as mundane as possible.

honda and nissan, and toyota for that matter too, are all advanced companies who have made amazing products. it's just that they don't specialize in luxury cars, so they aren't as experienced at making them. If BMW were to build a civic competitor, they would surely fail miserably; not because BMW is a generally incompetent company, but rather because they are not as experienced. Honda's luxury car interiors don't really have that cold solid design that BMWs have. Their interior designs are very warm and 'homely', and lack that luxury feel. If you ever drive the Acura RL you will see what I mean. Nissan, on the other hand, is terrible at making interiors all together. I think it's because they put so much effort into their engines that the cabin design is left behind. I didn't consider any of the Infinity models simply because the interiors were so sub par. |

uhaulball: no kidding! You can tell with the first subheading on the first page: "But Wait! It’s Still Good!" Car & Driver loves BMWs.
That said, the last G35 Sport I drove just didn't have the steering feel (too light), and the auto sucked a LOT. Sounds like the G37 isn't better in either respect. The autoand the engine in the 335i are what made me purchase it. (In case Infiniti is listening -- and I'm sure they are.) |

I just don't find this car very appealing. The G35 coupe was a good looking car, just underpowered. |

That slalom speed is amazing. But even though .89g's is really high, i'm surprised it wasn't higher than the last G35 coupe which I read in one article(C&D I think) from 2003, that it got .92g's. |

^Some of the cockiest drivers I've ever met are other BMW owners. I see some nice Bimmers on the roads and when I give them thumbs up, they just take off, lol.
This cocky attitude is the reason why a lot of people think BMW drivers are all pricks. I'd like to classify myself as a car enthusiast...so I can appreciate any car that is nicely done without bashing it based on the make. |

The numbers dont mean anything. When I read an article regarding the new G35 sedan, and they compared it with a 330i, they both had the same slalom numbers, but the remarks were that even though the G35 was as fast, it was not as planted, and confident, or as fun to drive.
That told me all I need to know. Also, my wife who has a G35 sedan (which is a good car, very good) got a new 08 G35 for a loaner, and I can tell you that her older G35 is much better. It was on our radar as a replacement when her lease at the end of this year, but after driving one, it just felt cheap inside and is now not even being considered.

I love cars, period. I love BMWs, and most likely my next one will be a BMW as well, but Im not above Lexus, Audi, Infiniti, or Acura. My wife might even get a RAV4, its a pretty nice SUV.

well I tried to consider the IS350 but was not impressed when I sat behind the wheel, it gave me the impression it was fragile and that I needed to gentle with it.
