Not a commentary on the series, I just find it ironic your name is Sidney.

Pittsburgh couldn't have landed a tougher opponent in the first round.
Seriously need to revamp the penalty kill once the playoffs start. Two years in a row a considered 'top killer' ended up looking like $h!t. No adjustments or anything...at least put Sid on the kill, he could have at least won the face offs. Only highlight right now is with Hossa going down, the Hawks called up Brandon Saad. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like they'll go far either.

Didn't help that Fleury stunk out the joint either. Canadians used to have the best goaltenders in the world, but now with Fleury, Luongo, and Brodeur (to a lesser extent due to age) stinking out the joints, hard to put any CDN goalie in the top 10.

His wheels came off. Lots of opinions why. I go with too much play in the regular season, and of course weak D and backchecking. I think it was a combination of fatigue and bad support.

Fleury, he's shaky at times...but we should be able to outscore the opponent for the most part. Luongo...well, can't help you there. At least he's got a good agent.

Has it always been the #1 seed and #2 seeds in the same bracket?
I don't get that, wouldn't the NHL want the top seeded teams face-off against each other in the later rounds? 1 vs 8 2 vs 7 3 vs 6 4 vs 5 This means in the 2nd rd, we'll see 1 vs 2 (if all goes well, according to the bracket masters). IMO, it should be the top teams squaring off in the conf. finals...just like NCAA March Madness, NBA, etc... 1 vs 8 4 vs 5 2 vs 7 3 vs 6 |

Where'd you get your info from?
The NHL does do that. Every round, lowest plays highest, etc... The matchups in the second round are: (8) L.A. vs (2) StL (4) Nash vs (3) Phoenix (7) Wash vs (1) NYR (6) N.J. vs (5) Philly The brackets are dynamic, meaning you may not be able to fill them out straight through like you do with the NCAA tourney. The first and second seeds of a conference will not play each other until the Conference Finals, assuming both win out. |
