Saleen S281 or NOT
Okay, as you can see im from down under I am a BMW enthusiest but i love my muscle cars as well. I have always loved the e92 335 but thats in a list of three other cars that i also love, S5 and the Saleen Mustang S281. The question id like to ask is what do you all think of the Saleen Mustang S281? Its a very rare car in Australia, its imported privately by a small dealership and costs a bit more then the 335 (due to right hand side conversions and the govt luxery car tax).
I can't test drive this car atm because all the dealers 200 car a year limit(govt limit) has been sold and has nothing to give me to test drive. So thats why i need some opinions on this beast of a car. Do any of you own a mustang? Hows the steering? Any input would be appreciated |

I actually test drove an SC S281 before going with the 335i. To sum it up, other than the foot-to-floor factor, there wasn't anything I liked about the car.

The bottom line is that you're still buying a Ford.
Granted it's a Saleen Ford, but still it's a ford. |

If you're gonna buy a Mustang you may as well just buy a GT and mod it to your specs.
The Saleen's aren't anything special. You can get much more hp for less money. As well as a better aftermarket suspension system. |

when i was test driving cars i thought i was going to get a mustang gt because it had much more power than the 328i. i drove the mustang and it felt exactly like the navigator i had been driving prior with a little more in terms of straight line. then i drove the 328i and because of the amazing handling fell in love. i think this would also be true for a saleen vs 335 comparison

Drove a 99' Mustang Convertible for a few months, the only think I like about the car is having the top-down and the PVC color.

I own an 08 Mustang GT and traded in an 04 Mustang GT that was pretty heavily modified. While I think the 335i is a purposely luxurious and sporty coupe/sedan with impressive acceleration and close to M3 manerisms around a track, a lot of people would be surprised at how the S197 mustang has improved. The suspension is a lot tighter than before and the acceleration is very smooth.
The mustang is your typical American muscle car which does very well in a straight line and with minor modifications can handle as well as any track car. I absolutely love my stang and with $2000 I am in the mid 12's in the quarter mile and having a great time at the track as well. I don't think either car is better than the other, they are apples and oranges in my opinion. One thing about the Saleens.. They have different models at different prices, the base model isn't even supercharged so it is your basic mustang with all the bolt ons. You want to look at a warrior check out the $80K Saleen Extreme at 700HP with warranty.

Hey mate, nice find!. Aren't those things bloody expensive down there?? It's a shame what you guys have to pay for them.
I would get the Saleen for the weekend car. Daily use, the 335/S5 |

Oh mate talk about an old thread Last week i ordered an M-sports e92 335 for January production so i have the longest 7 months of my life to wait for this car. As for the Saleen it is an absolute waste of money thanks to private importers making huge amounts of profit. If Ford Australia were smart they would bring them in to counter the Holden Monaro or the up coming Camaro that Holden is tweaking and road testing here. I am happy with my choice either way, now im just waiting for an LS3 upgrade on the HSV GTS (2009 rumours).

haha i have that exact mag sitting next to me mate. I know the FPV Orion is looking to be a beauty, i can't wait till the release of this car next year march. Engine figures say its a beast but an LS3 GTS will edge over the FORD though.
