Can I buy e92/3 m3?
Hi,
my name is Lucas, and I have one maybe stupid, may not question. So, okay, i'm 24 year old, and got about 25k euros saved in bank. I'm saving this money for year and a half to buy a car. I've always wanted a BMW M model, but I don't know how much, and would I have enough money to maintain and service a new M3 (2010/2011). My yearly wage is about 42k euros, I live in my parents house, and have no obligations to anyone, so this is just money to spend on trips, condoms, to party, vacations and everything else what young adult can spend for. On mobile.de i've found some nice m3 e92/93 for about 43-45k euros. There is also a more cheaper versions, but I want DCT and navigation at least... So, what do you think, is it smart for me to buy that wonderful car, do I have enough money to maintain it, or you would suggest me to buy 330 or something cheaper, and hold on a year or two, to get promotion on my job with better salary hahah appreciate on your help, sorry on my bad English, i hope you have understand what I meant to ask regards |

If it's taken you a year and a half to save $25k, do you have the money to maintain an M car plus pay the loan plus the insurance plus gas?
From a broad standpoint, I'd say no. I did the same thing when I was last looking at vehicles. I wanted an '06+ AM Vantage but at $65k for a cheap one plus the cost of maintaining it on my budget and expenses, it just wasn't realistic without being car-poor. I COULD, but my lifestyle would have to change drastically. Without a more accurate description of your finances, monthly income and expenses, living situation, car choice (for warranty information)... I can't be more specific. |

i'm not from germany...
all points of view are good, i've been thinking about alot, and, I know that I can afford the car, but... I know that it would be smarter to invest money somewhere, but money is to be spent....I'll earn it again heh.... and have no concerns about place to live or similiar stuff, cause, my expectations is in about 3-4 year time 125k+$$ yearly wage, and it should be enough to live, invest and buy a house or whatever... probably, i'll just buy the car, and try the experience on my own skin if anything goes wrong, sell it, and start again heh just wanted to know how much is going to cost me regular yearly service for an M car, replacing and changing expendable parts...etc |

Life is short, dude. Do whatever you want to do. You can always make something work. Just depends on what kind of lifestyle you want to live.

Tell you what, send me the money, I'll buy the M3 and document the costs then in a few years I'll let you know whether or not you could have done it......jk you only live once and as you said if it gets to be too much sell the car.

I think it's a risk, but my recomendation for you is "don't buy a car you don't want, if your mind is set on an M car, then an M car is the one you need" But only do it when you can afford it.
spending a lot of money on a car that's "as good" but not actually the car you wanted, is just you wasting that money because you'll end up with the one you really wanted sooner or later anyhow. So if you currently have a car, then maybe wait a few more months so you have more money for a bigger down payment on the car and making it more affordable for you to live with every day. |

you went to the wrong place bro. i would say do it if you feel that you can afford it. dont ask these e90post guys. your response is going to be along the lines of how you're too young for one and get your priorities straight. calculate it yourself. enjoy yourself man. im 21 btw and i pay for my own car, i get hate for it but its all good!

OP if you buy the car you will have a great time thats for sure. I'm a impulse buyer haha. but it will be expensive to pay out of your pocket if you need to repair something thats for sure ( not sure if europe has free oil change and underwarranty, im assuming its the same as US ?) if not, you gotta pay to play as the car gets older more things will break or need maintaince.
