Forget the exterior (7 series rear end? lol), I think Merc have came a long way with their interiors. This is very similar to the ML interior and I think interior looks better than Audi Q7 and X5 IMO.

Fantastic interior! I prefer the previous generation for exterior but that is one of the nicest interiors I've seen in quite some time.

Dat INTERIOR.

I even think the exterior looks solid, save for the clunky rear bumper design. This thing will stand out on the road.

This, the GL, is above the X5. That is why BMW is thinking of an X7.

Love the front half, hate the rear.

The interior looks better than anything BMW has to offer IMO.

Oh no please no X7 lol. I doubt it will happen but I never thought we would see X1,X4 or X6 but they happened (X4 upcoming).

One thing I hate about Merc (BMW are guilty too) is the big silver slats in the grille. It just looks cheap and weird. It looks just as bad on BMWs when kidney grilles are full of silver slats. They should always be black. In the case of Merc they should be black but have a thin chrome strip only at the front.

They've improved the exterior (GL was never really a looker) but the interior is great

BMW have been thinking about an X7 for many years, but according to Scott27 they aren't going to build one.

But it may now come again. Lamborghini and Bentley are coming with two luxury SUVs, there already is the Range Rover, and Rolls Royce does not want to make any SUV, so BMW may do it, called X7, or even X8.

I wish they would improve the temperature control knobs, it has an extremely cheap feel to it. I love the interior especially the seats.

I detailed my father in laws 12 gl550 for his b-day present, and in the process saw how much better the merc was in quality and build materials compared to my 2011 x5. I had my x5 for 6 month before trading it in for a merc. Granted I absolutely despise how the gl and ml drive, the x5 was a supercar compared to those 2.

i can't argue whit you ,since you have drive them both. although my point was more performance oriented not on fit and finish.
