I'm a "Native American", and the term indian doesn't bother me. = p We'd all rather be called by our tribes, anyway. "native american" is just another name given to us by others. We certainly didn't name this place "America".
But who cares. being PC is dumb. I'm Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chikasaw. |

Very nice. It's wonderful what you find when on a drive and take the time to stop. Very authentic dress. Can you say where you were that day, without the need to be hunted down and killed?

Yes I can this time,I was in Chesapeake Virginia.
They hold a Powwow there every year.People come from all over. A lot of tribes were represented,Cherokee,Nansmond,Powhatan,Souix, and one group was Aztec from South America. The beadwork and all the gear is handmade by each person,The camera failed to show how beautiful this work was, absolutely stunning!!!!!

There is one pretty regularly at Lake Casitas here in Ventura County, CA. I wen several years in a row, then have missed teh last few. BEAUTIFUL clothing and feathers and beads. Haven't found quit the right choker yet, and can't really see myself in a headdress, don't want to be disrespectful of the heritage.
Some of the pants would make super chaps for riding, the leather is so soft. |
